Costco's lifetime is a better deal in my opinion.

I have never owned a shed before. Could someone enlighten me if these get extremely hot in California heat or do they have an adequate venting system?
If I store things like extra cables, peripherals, perhaps some suitcases will they get ruined?
I am considering purchasing one either from here or from Costco.

Yes, it'll get hot just like anything that doesn't have active ventilation outside in the heat.

Will it destroy your stuff? Probably not...

These are basic outdoor sheds, and while they offer PROTECTION from the elements, you aren't going to want to leave electronics, clothes, etc, in them. Humidity, temperature, outdoor critters, etc will all be up in your business in them.

The only things I would store in these are things like yard tools. Probably wouldn't even want to keep a bike in there. Not a lot of ventilation in my experience and all kinds of spiders and other insects love to make their home in these things.

Just make sure it stays dry. Hot + humid will ruin your stuff.

Tempted to throw one of these up to store wall-mount plywood with solar inverter, charger and batteries.

I've had 3 of these for at least a decade and they're all holding up just fine. My garage is converted, so I use these for all the stuff normally in a garage. One for the mower, other yard tools, and supplies, one for all of my tools (two full tool chests plus shelves), and one for bicycles and seasonal storage (snow toys, Halloween costumes and decorations, etc.) No issues with any of the contents.

Note: Rubbermaid makes some hooks that screw into the walls so you can use their closetmaid shelves, which I thought was cool, but it turns out they bend the walls if you put any real weight on the shelves. Better to use a freestanding 36 or 48 inch shelving unit.

Definitely this. They will chew through almost anything.

Question to the experts:

Previously I tried to make a concrete slab base with uber failure -- the platform was not flat and level.

But I had success with building a platform on Concrete Deck Blocks (https://www.lowes.com/pd/Common-7...k/50113084).

The one, I made, was with pressure treated 2x4 so that the exposed areas beyond the shed can stand the weather. Is there any less expensive option? I don't care about look, but the platform should be good with rain and sun (no snow in my area).

TIA

Just an FYI, the gray version has Amazon - Earn 10% back on this item when you pay with your Prime Visa. Makes it a little better, for one color.

I currently use plastic pallets over dirt, they lasted some SoCal rain and no issues. Found them on Marketplace for like $5 a pop
