YMMV Get a Tracfone Samsung Galaxy A15 5G 64GB phone Locked to Tracfone for FREE when trying to port out a prepaid line.

Worked for me seamlessly hence sharing with fellow SDealers. Even though locked, a free phone is a free phone.

Pre-requisite: You must have an active prepaid line with Tracfone (In my case, it was that popular one year 1500 mins/text/data line that was expiring soon)

Steps to follow:
- Call Tracfone support (1-800-867-7183) and after inisistng the IVR to divert to a human persistently, request a port out pin once the human agent joins.
- Provide a reason for port-out. Example: Better deal with another carrier say ATnT etc.
- Just before the agent asks for approval to send a pin to initiate the port-out request, either the agent would themselves tell you about a free phone offer if you stay (no taxes no fees, completely free) or if they don't try to ask them for such an offer. In my case they offered me a free phone and thats how got to know about it
- Ask them to process that free phone offer. The only option they gave me was 'Samsung Galaxy A15 5G 64GB' as a free phone. I tried to see if they could offer anything better but no avail. You can try YMMV
- After verifying the shipping address, they processed the order for me. No credit card, no payment, no taxes or fee.
- I got the order confirmation email instantly and a shipping confirmation UPS 2nd day air within 5 hours. YMMV

I am not sure if this is already known or routine but I just shared in case it might be helpful for others because it worked for me. Huge YMMV

Also, I know that phone is basically useless outside of tracfone and specs are weak and I dont plan to use any plans on it for 365 days to unlock. But since it's free, it's worth IMHO.
Also, I might port out anyway for any better prepaid deals later with metro, for example, or let the line die, so no harm.
Also, no id verification, no selfie uploads, no credit card/payment method required or any other catch.

Must be something new or YMMV. I ported out two TF numbers to Metro last month and the reps didn't offer a free phone when I contacted them to request the port-out PIN.

Yes I also did a couple of months back but no such offer at that time. I am attaching the masked screenshot of my order confirmation email to OP as proof.

So now the only way to get port out pin is calling them? I texted ntp to 611611, it asked me to call. Annoying

Some people said texting NTP outside of their support hours (I think 7AM to 11PM ET) will get the PIN texted back.

Unlike any phone from metro (which needs a 1 month plan minm) this is a free device for those who already have a prepaid line with TracFone. Both are different type of deals. Like I have mentioned in the OP, this is just get a no harm free device on your existing prepaid line.

I think they changed their system because I texted after 11pm ET, got the call-us message instead of actual pin

Locked for one year or forever. No where to trade in. Just another piece of e-waste.

btw the paid year requirement and no automated pin delivery is because of FCC deregulation by the "new" administration

was reading about that the other day

previous FCC admin made it easier for consumers, no more
