Twelve pence make the shilling, and twenty shillings the pound. 'Tis the sweet spot between a copper farthing and a silver crown.

More than a groat, less than a guinea, and just enough to purchase a bit of news from the wire-man.

Tis a tidy sum—farsighted enough to dwarf a lowly ha'penny, yet humble enough to bow before the mighty Sovereign. Twelve pence to the shilling, and not a farthing more!

As for that Panasonic contraption, 'tis a fine bit of wizardry for 216 shillings! Though it lacks a proper rotary dial, the 'automated call block' sounds like a useful charm for warding off unwanted spirits and solicitors.

BTW, for you, all the kiddies:
I use Panasonic phones for the VOI service, and a ground/landline (in another place) for work.
And a lot of other people use it this way.

I have similar hooked up to my ethernet (through a voip interface). Works great for an alternate 'just in case' phone line
