I've always thought about how nice it would be to have an ice maker, but no matter the price, I've concluded they should probably be viewed as a short-term purchase.

I've noticed how a lot of models suddenly have review drops and revisions around the 2-3 year mark, usually because of parts not made to last or areas the self-cleaning functions can't reach that build up molds over time that are only discovered after people disassemble the product.

Not saying it's not a good deal, just that I would keep in mind it's probably not going to last 10 years unless you are willing to disassemble to deep clean the nooks and crannies, and are handy at fixing parts as they go over time.
