Is there a way to check (brickseek = no) whether this item is on clearance and see the price at my local Walmart without having to go to the store ?

I don't think so. The store where I bought it had 3 or 4 boxes on a bottom shelf in a clearance aisle, each one with the yellow $25 clearance tag on it. Yet online, that same store shows it for $108...with the kicker being you can pick it up today! So it's a cluster!
