Anyone know how this compares to the g5 that was on sale yesterday(maybe today too)? I like the smart features of this since I'm getting it for my daughter, but I also have plenty of options for getting her media onto the display. I'm mostly interested in how good the display is for both gaming and media consumption. I kind of like the idea of 1440p since she doesn't have a top tier graphics card, but I guess she might not really mind running at a lower resolution and letting the display scale it.

Both panel is VA. G5 have higher refresh hz (165 Hz), curve and 1440p. G5 have no smart tv and no speaker.
M7 Non-curve, 4k resolution, only 60hz. Built in speakers and smart tv.
It all depend what your daughter is using it for.

Ok, guess I probably could have figured that out myself. I appreciate you taking the time to answer. Part of me says return the g5 being delivered tomorrow as the extra resolution would be a hinderance when gaming, but beneficial when watching tv and doing computer stuff, which she might do more.

Something you may want to consider, especially if you and/or your daughter have a Samsung Dex capable phone, is Dex and RDP capability. Remote Desktop (RDP) lets most TizenOS (the Samsung TV operating system) tv's can connect to remote pc's, saving you an additional pc setup - which obviously saves you and your fam with all these price gouges going on. Dex is fast with even Samsung Galaxy phones from a few years ago. The more recent tv's with TizenOS allow bookmarks through the built-in browser, that allow login's to common social apps/websites, etc.. You probably already know about the hundreds of tv channels available free, through Samsung TV Plus.

That is a great point, and one I didn't even think about, but we are an iPhone family. I used to be big into Android but I like the similar integration of MacOS and our iPhones(not why I switched to iPhone, but a huge plus for us).

For me, it's been more about open software, than proprietary like Apple. I'm not a big fan of overt Capitalism and price gouging, as previously stated, so options like Linux-based Android still offers, is a better option for me.

Oh I was huge into android, for that reason. I really got into customization, loved putting custom roms on my droid and Samsung phones. But as I got older and have less and less time to play around, and hated the disjointed nature of even stock Android, I just switched and have been very happy with iPhones.
