Is it much better than Kirkland 0w-20? I really doubt it.

Whats the price on that? If you are shopping for just best value the other Castrol full synthetic thats on sale for $19 would be the better purchase.

If you're going to do an oil change every 3000 to 5000 miles any old oil is fineI think this stuff is designed to go a little bit further and maintain its viscosity

Compared to those brands' same-class synthetics, there's no practical difference.
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Google says "Castrol EDGE is primarily formulated using Group III (highly refined mineral/hydrocracked) and Group IV (Polyalphaolefin - PAO) synthetic base oils."
To me, this means its "partially" synthetic motor oil.

For a vehicle designed for 5W-20 oil, the best choice is typically a high-quality full synthetic 5W-20, as it provides optimal lubrication, efficiency, and engine protection. For superior cold-start protection, 0W-20 is an excellent alternative, while 5W-30 can be used for improved high-temperature protection in older engines or hot climates

PSA the 0w-40 hasn't been reformulated to API SQ yet. Mobil 1 Euro Car 0w-40 has, and is certified Dexos R.

But the lower viscosity Castrols are reformulating with the newer-and-better standards.

Check forums for your specific car. Usually running 5w-30 will provide better engine protection, at the cost of 1-2 MPG. But not always. When deviating from manufacturer recommendation, you have to do your own research and decide.
