There's a whole bunch of whetstones on Amazon from a variety of recognizable and gibberish brands (including Amazon Basics) that all look like exactly the same product as this, at pretty varying price points. Take that as you will.

I think most people would get more value from a similarly priced dual sided 400/1000 grit instead which will make sharpening a dull knife faster starting with 400 grit first.

Personally I found diamond coated "stones" to be easier to use and way faster to sharpen on with less effort. That said, if this is your first time sharpening a knife, just know it'll take time to get the right "feel" to get the right motion and consistency. Start with a knife you don't care about so you can practice while you learn to find the edge and create a burr and smooth it out.
