Before getting, consider the following:

- It's half a decade old. Expect it to be fully end-of-life'd soon (aka no more updates).
- Slower than the base entry-level M4 and M5.
- "Refurbished" -- but not by Apple. So it could be a Spit n' Shine...maybe with more spit than shine.
- Leaning on the refurb point, who knows how these were used? Typically these high capacity machines were used at full-throttle all the time...if they were cookin', how's the processor longevity? How's the battery? -shrug-
- These are considerably larger and heavier than any Neo or Air you'll find -- they're a brick in comparison.
- If you don't have the full 140w OEM charger, you'll drain the battery even when plugged in depending on what you're working on. There's even a chance if the machine is considerably worn, it'll still discharge ever-so-slowly even plugged in when under load.
- 512gb is a very meager sized SSD. If you're working on projects that need 64gb of ram, chances are you'll blow WAY past the SSD's capacity.
- 100% not upgradable in any way. What you see is what you get.

And $1,300 isn't a bargain by any means. It's just one motherboard with the SSD and RAM soldered onto it.

Given the age and diminishing amount of repair parts/being discontinued, if something fails, it'll either be VERY expensive to fix....if not impossible. Tick, tick, tick....hopefully the clock doesn't stop when you're using it.

----------

Pros:
- It has 64gb of ram. Which honestly should be standard in 2026 (given how 32gb was standard in 2015 on everything BUT apples --> they STILL think people should use 8gb 🤣), but thank all the fake al-slop for higher ram prices.
- "Better" screen than most laptops. Even though it has 5 years of use on it, it'll probably be a better performer than most other screens. All rendered moot if you connect even the most basic external monitor (which you can get on the cheap nowadays).
- "Better" audio than most laptops. Which is also rendered moot if you use even the most basic set of headphones.
- It has a FAN for cooling! (Apple loves to make stuff they claim is "passively cooled", which is marketing-speak for cut corners for profit and didn't install a fan, the standard for proper laptop cooling since laptops were first made).

At an extra cost. And that's assuming All States chooses to cover whatever happens. Might have a extended fight on your hands....what's your time and effort worth?
