I feel like it sounds interesting but after a while this would just become frustrating as hell constantly having to reveal every color over and over again just to see where you're at and what needs to change

it's definitely a hassle since i bought one from last $5 deal but it warms up quick. i found these to be more easy to turn than the regular one.

Do we need to "touch/contact" it to make it warm? Or, taking it near a hot pot would do the trick without any physical touch?

Having gotten one of these as a gift from my wife, they are okay turning cubes that become visible as your hand warms them up. In a really hot climate/area, it'll likely not even appear as "phantom". After using it for a few minutes, it's generally fully visible. Don't use it for a few minutes and it'll fade back to being darkened.

As far as I'm concerned, this puzzle is already solved.

Mine moans suggestively when I do. Is that supposed to happen?
