This foaming coil cleaner is valued as an easy way to clear caked on grime from AC coils, mini splits, RV units, and even heater cores, with reports that it improves appearance, cooling, and sometimes lowers power use. The formula is described as lemony fresh and less harsh than bleach based cleaning, while still loosening debris that a hose alone may miss. The main cautions are that it may take two cans for a larger unit, and the bottle does not appear to include a tube for tight spaces. A practical pick for routine coil maintenance when access and coverage matter.

Common Questions (5)

  • It is positioned more as a foaming detergent/deodorizer than a caustic contractor-grade coil cleaner, and it is used on evaporator coils and mini splits. For best results, power off the unit and rinse carefully from inside to outside without blasting the fins.

  • It does not appear to include a tube, so it is less convenient for tight spaces like car air conditioners. A cheap introducer straw can be used as a workaround if you need to reach deeper into an opening.

  • It has been used successfully on RV ACs and vehicle heater cores, and it can help remove stubborn buildup in those systems. It is also mentioned as useful for eliminating the "dirty sock" smell in older vehicle ACs.

  • A decent-sized home unit may take two cans for a thorough cleaning. One can can improve appearance and cooling, but larger coils often need a second pass to fully remove grime.

  • It can loosen caked-on debris that a hose alone may not remove, and cleaning can reduce how hard the unit runs. One report described about a 25% drop in power consumption after cleaning a 2.5-year-old unit.

I used this in 2024 and our AC hadn't ever gotten cleaned in 20 years and it wasn't that dirty. So I'll pause this time. I guess depends where your AC is and how dirty it gets so fast
Most homeowners, and lazy techs look at the wrong side of the evap coil, the intake is what cakes up, even with proper filtration, while the visible side always looks clean. The most common foaming brand used in industry is Nu-Calgon. I buy Purafilter 2000 by the gallon, requires dilution, safe on evap and condensers. Make sure you're checking both sides of each.

Can it restore refrigerator coils to like-new? Where will all of the grimey dust go?

I use this with a plastic tube attached to reach vehicle heater cores. Clean the living F out of them. Heater cores get loaded with hard to remove accumilated substances. Makes a huge difference.
Can you describe your process more?

Careful, idk about this one but some of these cleaners are corrosive and can do more damage than good.
This is is great. No issues. But you will need 2 if you have a decent sized unit/house.

New no. 10x better yes. The debris and grime or the like will be rinse off in to the center part and drain. This works great for cleaning appearance and cooling. I will need 2 to be thorough tho
