Ive been using these for about 2 months now. I will say the handle was very hard to twist at first to adjust the weight on one of them. It was frustrating but its working fine now. Just needed a little wear and tear. Also to note, the weights are bottom heavy. So, when you lift them up to do an incline dumbbell press, they sometimes slowly rotate in your hand if you dont have a good grip. And these have plastic feeling handles so it's hard to get a solid grip.

While it's indeed plenty for some exercises - why investing in quick change dumbbells if you still going to need to buy some other set anyway, better save some money and space and go for bigger set from the start. But the biggest issue with these cheapo sets is the adjustment step. 5lbs is just too much for low-weight exercises. Idk how to handle let's say 35-40 bump in stuff like lateral rises or smth (I sometimes do smaller jumps even for squats and I'm just a beginner). Stalling at the same weight for weeks and months - is a killer for beginners IMHO.
Add more reps until you can do more weight. Beginners don't stall for any reason other than lack of effort.

Or just find a piece of metal or a big chunk of concrete, lift them and save yourself 210 bucks. In my case, the ability to add weight slowly was a huge benefit, and I'm just pointing this out. I didn't think about that when I started lifting and ended up wasting 200bucks on a similar set I ended up not using.

How do these compare against the Nordic track? The nordictrack pair was on clearance on Sam's Club for $130 a couple of months ago...

It looks like the length of these remain 16 inches no matter what weight you select.
It's not a total deal breaker, but I hated it. So I bought powerblocks instead.

I've had the same 52lb Bowflex set for 15 years and I'm doing just fine. Latest studies say lifting heavy is not really needed as long as you do more reps.

The majority of people don't have any dumbbells at all and doing just fine. And that's ok. I'm just talking from my experience. I wasted 200 bucks, and wish I just bought a bigger set from the beginning. I don't enjoy lifting weights enough to do 30+ reps. It takes a lot of time as it is already.

good find. That is a great price. I have a single of these bought off woot for the same price. I would love to buy another but already have another old school kind where you manually take the weights off and on.

50lb dumbbells seem low for some reps. Where are the bigger sets like up to 75lb at least? I already have a 25lb pyramid dumbbell set.

I went with Kensui handles. It does take time to change the weight, but not too much. I bought 2 handles and a bunch of additional cheap plates all in all after FSA, and the discount was about 250, I think. I wanna buy REP Pepin at some point, but not ready to invest 1500 in a pair of dumbbells just yet (they go up to 125lbs each, with 2.5lbs increments, which is still not ideal but better.
