If someone is buying one of these for a computer or other equipment that's worth some money, I'd suggest going with a more reputable brand like APC, TrippLite, or CyberPower. Build quality is likely better, components are likely better, performance is likely superior, and the warranty service is likely more reliable. It's not worth saving a few dollars if what you're protecting is worth far more.

I need to find a cheap UPS to back up my wifi extender, but the formerly cheap APC one is "marked down" to $70. Dang it.

There are enough sketchy reviews to make me pause. I would not rely on this unit and if you decide to try it out, I'd test it within the return window.

Shows a $13 coupon off for me. Can anyone tell me the use case for this? I very infrequently lose power, don't leave PC turned on etc. I guess to keep internet modem running in the event of a power outage?

long shot, but does anyone know if this is supported by Synology and/or Proxmox for a graceful shutdown?

In my area we frequently have things that bring the local power down, without bringing down the cable internet. As long as my modem, router, (and computer of course) have power, I have had cable internet working even without local power. YMMV.

maybe your "substations" or whatever have battery backups. in my area, comcast/xfinity will literally bring out generators and chain them down to the "substations" for extended outages

I am in an area with strong winds, where the wind can take down just the neighborhood power, substation may just be more robust. I agree other areas can be different. Just letting people know they may find they can at least get to the internet with power going to their modem, router, and computer.

if you care about your equipment, i really recommend sticking with APC which tends to be the most consistent. their support is also excellent. easy RMA's with receipt
