We are in the "pay more, get less" epoch of late stage capitalism.

Nope. I will hold off. I still have a small collection of PS4 games left to play. Many people aren't going to pay $700 for disc console. I know it's not entirely their fault for having to increase price, but Sony has failed at producing 1st party exclusives for this generation that makes this thing worth the high price. That's the bigger issue than the price.
I'm with ya. I keep looking for games of interest that aren't just rehashes of popular titles, and I see nothing. Graphic upgrades on new consoles are useless if you're just playing the same game. ohhhhh shiney!

Just pulled the trigger on a new PS5 Pro. Got approved for two Amazon credit cards to get $250 in gift cards that dropped the total down to $569 after CA taxes. Paid with my Fidelity investment card for possible 7%+ rewards on my long term retirement stocks. Planning to get another card approval for another $50 gift card to use on a PS5 disc drive. Glad my credit score's 820+!
Smart move by Sony with this price increase imo. PS5's are currently selling like hot cakes. 🔥 🎂🍰🔥

The real deals here are the PlayStation Fortnite bundles which are $100 less than other pricing and $200 less than they'll be on the 2nd. Wanted to make the thread so anyone on the fence about purchasing had time to before the price increases next week.
Thanks for this. I got the slim disc edition

agreed, terrible deal. If costs have risen Sony should have eaten the costs. Probably would work out because they nickel and dime you on subscription costs. But now people won't buy it so they lose out on those subscription fees and on the cut they take on video games. just a dumb decision all around

This is good for me, I can sell my ps5 I haven't touched in over a year for more money. I'll keep a controller to game on Steam though

Then don't buy it. I refused to buy a switch 2 because of the prices. It wasn't until they dropped the bundle price to $450 and got a PayPal deal for $100 cash back, making it $350 that I got one. Even now I'm kind of regretting doing that as Nintendo is still getting the money.
Trust me I don't buy at these prices and I still use the switch 1. As for PS5 and XBOX I had both at their launch prices.
I can see that now these companies want us to be ushered into cloud gaming and this is how you do it price everybody out since for these companies they take losses or make a low ROI on each device except for Nintendo they usually rely on the lower end hardware but volume sales approach but even with the switch 2 Nintendo is seeing that people aren't upgrading like they thought.

The fortnite bundles are also available at gamestop if anyone is looking. If you have a citi elite card, you can get $200 off (splurge credit) at best buy and that includes refurbished or open box models. I have a launch fat ps5 with disc drive, but it's on an older firmware so I decided to get another ps5 to keep updated. I'll keep it closed while I assess what happens to the retail and resell market when the new prices launch.

Folks are mostly just selling digital at $300 in my marketplace, tend to be more for the disc versions.

And they seem either: unusually dirty, from neighborhoods where I'd fear being robbed, or with small caveats like: 'Works Great, looks like new --- By the way, hdmi doesn't work'.
