This would be hard to beat at this price ime.
Just look at the past PAC units or even these newer ones that actually offer it.
Most stated they didn't need it and/or wasn't worth the cost.
As you can attest to or look back at prior PAC units, many only use 1 sub and find no benefit to DLBC.
TBH the average home setup doesn't need more than two subs.
Two quality subs properly implemented is all most people need ime.
Imo anyone that already uses 3 or more subs know how to manually calibrate their subs and may believe they do not need DLBC.

Audioholics testing is also another good resource

This unit actually outperforms its published specs and also had very good SINAD performance
Gene mentions in the review that this is the best AVR, in his opinion, under $3500
For many of us with problematic rooms, ART is a game changer.
For many of us with problematic rooms, ART is a game changer.
Of all the Onkyo units, I think most enthusiasts expected the RZ70 to eventually get ART due to it being the flagship of the lineup. There was much grumbling and disappointment when it was revealed during this past CES that only the 2027 lineup would get ART. If you don't care about Dirac ART, then the RZ70 will meet 99% of needs w/o being SOTA.
Everyone who has an ART license (and there's quite a bit of them out there) also has paid for a DLBC license. The only exception to this rule is if you don't own a SW (then you can just go from DL straight to the ART license). Every Onkyo fan still waiting for ART will understand this concept once it becomes available down the road in the RZx1 series. Just because Onkyo doesn't have ART right now, doesn't mean a wealth of knowledge from Denon, Marantz, Storm, Monoprice, etc. owners doesn't exist!

but then you post something like this
"Of all the Onkyo units, I think most enthusiasts expected the RZ70 to eventually get ART due to it being the flagship of the lineup. There was much grumbling and disappointment when it was revealed during this past CES that only the 2027 lineup would get ART."
And I would love to hear about your personal ownership of DLBC and ART as well
Then there was " statement" about no longer posting in PAC AVR threads....
I personally thought that was hilarious for the week that it lasted.....
For many of us with problematic rooms, ART is a game changer.
So there is no free lunch
But you can wait for next year for the RZ70 replacement and hopefully a couple of things are not downgraded
1. The Amp/Power supply capability
2. The SINAD performance is at least the same as this year's model
Otherwise , IMO, one would be making trade offs
Those benchmarks specs and extra power don't do anything for problematic room environments.
TBH the benchmark specs are only a sonic benefit for 2 channel music, not very relevant to multichannel surround.
As good as ART can be, it's not a magic pill.
One thing it will not/can't do is improve the quality of your speakers.
That plays a significant roll in performance as does proper implementation.
Many factors here but in general, imo investing in better room correction software is better than paper performance specs regarding multichannel sonic performance.
FYI Amp/Power supply is easily mitigated with external amps, TBH it's a long term better investment ime.

All because of "w/4 SW outputs" & "ART compatible" and doesn't take advantage of either of those revelations!
Apparently even for the ones that don't have to wait for that "concept", still don't take advantage of it!
The most ironic part is that that so called misinformation comes from a renowned AV Professional(AA) who worked directly with Dirac.
A main reason for that updated video was because of all the confusion & misinformation out there!
