Audio Products International (API) was a prominent Canadian speaker manufacturer (established in 1973) that developed and manufactured Mirage, Energy, and Athena Technologies speakers. The company was known for its in-house design and testing facilities and frequently collaborated with Canada's National Research Council in studies to determine measurable qualities listeners attributed to good sounding speakers. API's anechoic chamber was legendary.

API was acquired by the Klipsch Group in 2006 and Mirage and Athena Technologies were soon eliminated. (Klipsch Group also acquired Jamo at this time.) Energy and Jamo were acquired by Rayleigh Labs ( established in 2017 in Shenzhen, China) in late 2024.

I can't believe you can still find a deal on these. I thought the last run from Fry's a decade ago was it.
These have been the best speakers I've owned, and they really are good any everything. All music types, HT works great, dedicated stereo with or without a sub, records, lossless hifi, etc.
The best thing about this speaker line is the great detail you get but without fatigue. They have a warmer sound that never gets tiring, and use their full range to represent detail well.
I have much more expensive setups since my original purchase, but I still use the RC-70s in my nicer stereo system, also paired with Marantz.

How much of a difference would this make for movies compared to the Magnat Supreme 2002 bundle?I'm generally happy with the Magnats for movies. They're paired with an RSL 10S MKII and RSL 12S, along with a Sony STR-AN1000. The only downside is that the center channel feels slightly weaker than the rest of the setup, although I've mostly addressed that with some tuning.I'm wondering how much of an improvement upgrading to something like this Energy bundle would make, specifically for movie use.
They don't sound similar and IF they were an improvement would be personal choice after listening side by side.Never listened to them side by side but generally speaking it's a side move.Depending on what needs improvement, other than center which sounds like you corrected.I would suggest checking the implementation of speakers especially subs.Room is a major factor in performance also. You might want to see what you can do there. The Sony kinda handcuffs you with parallel sub outs and not very versatile room correction imo.

Just pulled the trigger on this deal. I've always wanted to purchase a set of Energy RC speakers, but never thought I'd come across a set like this for this price. Thanks for posting this!
Yep, $800 for all this is very hard to turn down!

Imagine, $800 is only $100 more than what SVS wants you to pay just for A PAIR of their lousy "Prime" bookshelf speakers! πŸ˜†

I am still shocked and temped by this set, though I have absolutely no need for them. The only thing keeping me from buying a set to keep is that technically I got a better deal in ~2015 (likely the same price after inflation). Also because my theater room is full, and I have multiple stereo sets in storage right now. But goddamn do I love these speakers.
For those not familiar, the Energy RC line made use of acoustic research that was subsidized by the Canadian government, or a CA university/research firm that I can't recall. At the time, this benefited all the major CA brands and they went on to produce some fantastic speakers from Energy, PSB, and Paradigm. I compare my RC-70s to my friend's Paradigm Titans from the same era, honest speakers with a laid-back signature. We both use Marantz equipment, though, so the high roll-off may be playing a part. I never got my hands on a nice set of PSBs to test, but I imagine they do well, and have a similar fiber(often kevlar) weave to their woofers.
Do the promo code still come up as working. I'm getting an unavailable when trying to add the code

TL/DR: These are most likely not the original Energy Speakers. Can anyone who has received theirs confirm?

Energy Reference Connoisseur series, including the RC-70, RC-10, and RC-LCR, is not currently in production. I just placed my order and am hoping that these are indeed originals.

I have the older Energy speakers, they're fantastic, made in Canada, some of my best bookshelf. However, they're not as good as my old SVS speakers, they're older line made in Ohio, not the newer stuff made overseas.

Basically, SVS and Energy both make fantastic stuff, it just comes down to pricing.

This deal seems way too good, dunno, something seems odd, like where did they come from ?

Valid question...I wonder, too. Anything is possible with overseas manufacturing these days, though. Who knows, maybe there's some sweatshop factory in Asia that really can make all 5 speakers for say, $300?

I know nothing about speakers or home theatre setups, but there was a SD for a Onkyo TX-RZ30 a while back that I bought from Adorama. It's still sitting in the box. And I don't have speakers but judging by the comments on this thread these are really good.

So I just bought these.

Now I'll just have to figure out how tf to set them up when they arrive lol
