Audio Products International (API) was a prominent Canadian speaker manufacturer (established in 1973) that developed and manufactured Mirage, Energy, and Athena Technologies speakers. The company was known for its in-house design and testing facilities and frequently collaborated with Canada's National Research Council in studies to determine measurable qualities listeners attributed to good sounding speakers. API's anechoic chamber was legendary.

API was acquired by the Klipsch Group in 2006 and Mirage and Athena Technologies were soon eliminated. (Klipsch Group also acquired Jamo at this time.) Energy and Jamo were acquired by Rayleigh Labs ( established in 2017 in Shenzhen, China) in late 2024.

I can't believe you can still find a deal on these. I thought the last run from Fry's a decade ago was it.
These have been the best speakers I've owned, and they really are good any everything. All music types, HT works great, dedicated stereo with or without a sub, records, lossless hifi, etc.
The best thing about this speaker line is the great detail you get but without fatigue. They have a warmer sound that never gets tiring, and use their full range to represent detail well.
I have much more expensive setups since my original purchase, but I still use the RC-70s in my nicer stereo system, also paired with Marantz.

confirming these are indeed new production. I took a look at one of the tweeters ( model # 5DR//53118 )and the production date is 2548, setting it to November of 2025. They are also rated at 4 ohms, instead of 8 ohms of older production. ( comparing to this ebay listing https://www.ebay.com/itm/38950278...olid=10050 )
pictures: https://postimg.cc/gallery/M13wQ5D
Is the 4 ohms an issue? Do all the speakers show 4 ohms?

Does any one know where to get the wall mount (macro mount) for the rc-10s? Those have been out of stock for many many years. Bought my rc-10 and lcr in 2009 and going strong.
These have been holding up my RC-10's on the wall for the last 12 years https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000X9O...n_title_10

Very interested in this as my first proper setup. Has anyone purchased this deal? Is there anything better at this price point? Whats going on with decades old speakers being sold as new? Any insight would he helpful and appreciated I don't want to miss a killer deal, if this is one.

"Anything better" than $800 for all 5 speakers including towers and a 3 way center? Nope, not even close in this day and age of post-pandemic, post-tariffs, and ongoing Iran war oil crunch pricepoints. Grab it while you can.

How do these Energy series compare to the Energy Veritas? The Veritas highs are too high for my liking, so I'm hoping these are a little laid back. Also, what do folks think about the bass on the tower speakers?

Any thoughts on this as being an upgrade to the infinity primus p363 towers + p153 rears??
Wondering if it's worth the $800.

Why would you do that, the CF1 sound warmer. Very nice sound but the CF1 were a lot more expensive than these basic Energy speakers. I have a room with in-wall THX Ultra2, almost twenty years and I still don't have the urge to replace them.
At one moment I had 6.5" Energy Veritas and Klipsch RP62, and I kept the Energy. They sound identical to me.
I do enjoy the CF1 - albeit online you barely see them in forums, so comparison becomes a thief of joy and always on the look to see what upgrade path I have for similar footprint speaker

I guess that depends on what you dislike about your infinity setup and if you have a sub. Just looking at stats, the RC-70 is 11 lbs heavier per speaker, and has a frequency response down to 31Hz vs 38. In my head, that translates to a better cabinet build quality and more mid-bass punch. If you have a good sub that is blended well by the receiver, you may not notice what you are missing with the infinity towers.

IMO, if I had a plan for my old setup (another room, give to family, sell locally), then I'd be inclined to spend the $800 on the Energy upgrade. Of course, I'm biased because I already have the RC-70s and people tend to agree with themselves when given the opportunity.

These are for garage speakers for a 4.1.4 set up I have in there - nothing to rotate the old speakers to. I have an RSL 12s for a subwoofer. I figured if it's a step up (I prefer bright speakers) I'd be out about 550 but gain a center and upgrades on the towers/rears.

It's probably a wash so I haven't rushed.

There is this Energy Take Classic package for $600 which includes the sub & AVR!
Just look at all the positive opinions on it!
Even some people in here say, towers are not needed when using a sub & just salesman/shills that just want to pocket a much bigger commission selling you pricier towers!

That will depend on if you have any dislikes about the Primus' treble-forward sound signature, which these Energy RC series (unlike their lower-tier CB series) do not have because they provide more of a "neutral" sound.

Also, which Primus center speaker do you have? The Primus C351 will be on par with this Energy set's center speaker, while the Primus PC250 would be a clear step down. So if you own the PC250 and have some complaints about dialogue clarity, that would be worth upgrading---by itself (ignore the usual "brand matching equals timbre matching equals life or death importance" sales pitch and audiophool dogma).

Keep in mind a decent center speaker starts at $400-500. Well worth it if movies/TV are your main usage because it's the CENTER that actually carries 60-80% of the HT output not the front L/R.

Unless you are under draconian WAF restrictions, it's always better to add a sub, even a cheap entry-level one, than depending on the front mains for your bass. Using a receiver with bass management (HPF), a well chosen $400 sub with say, $600/pr mains will run circles around any towers costing $1000-5000.

Salesmen/shills will protest vehemently of course, since they pocket a much bigger commission from selling you the pricier towers, lol

Jamo speakers are known to be very treble-forward, which is the main source of complaints against them. The Energy RC series don't have that problem so yes, they will be an audible upgrade over the Jamos.

Go to https://www.erinsaudiocorner.com/loudspeakers/ and do a search for "Jamo"---you'll see 4 measurements-based reviews which concur on that point.

If you implement both properly, WAY better, no not really ime.

Not to mention that Jamo set includes a sub & receiver for the same price!

Heck you could include that Energy Take package for $599.
All you need is an inexpensive receiver.
Price to performance ratio very likely better on both.
