I ordered one of these the last time Woot had them at this price just to see what they sent me.

What I received was a Fire 10 HD Plus (4 GB of RAM instead of 3) in perfect condition and it was factory set to show no ads.

Was that the slate color you ordered last time? It's only black available right now.

I couldn't beat the deal, new battery alone costs $25 alone. If anything I can use tablet for trade in value of $25. Yea finally some good deals on woot. Most of them aren't.

I've had like 4 Fire tablets over the years because I see deals like this and think that if I go in with my expectations sufficiently low, it has got to be a good deal for what it is.

I'm always not just disappointed but disgusted. These are basically the definition of e-waste.

Agreed. My in-laws had a 2018 model. Man, it was intolerable. By 2021 they had stopped using it.

My kids love these for Khan Academy Kids. Runs perfect and I don't care if they break them.

Took advantage of the same deal last time they ran it. Came without lock screen ads in perfect condition. I gave it a light jailbreak, installed RetroArch, and paired a couple of nice controller to it. For $30 it's a pretty rad emulation machine.

For productivity these are not great, as everyone stated. But I use a few for HomeAssistant dashboards and they are great for that purpose at this price

These are decent cheapo tablets to hack. Grab Fire Toolbox from XDA to remove ads and install Google Play. They're a bit sluggish but I've used them as always-on viewports for security cameras, as media consoles for home and auto, home assistant console, stream deck etc. Many uses.

Without Fire Toolbox, generally e-waste or something you can let a kid play with and break to pieces or whatever.

Even with the toolbox hack these are severely limited. It's basically locked to what is Android 9 if I recall, and most of the apps I use (common stuff like ny times etc) require at least android 10. So unless you have a specific use case that can get by on an ancient OS, keep on looking. You'd probably be better off with like the android 14 Onn open boxers that pop up from time to time.

There is a reason these are so cheap!

Whoa, this is a great deal. S&D sold out now, so it's just the refurbished for $28. Limit 2.

Old Android, not much memory, weak processor. But outstanding FHD display!

So these make awesome photo frames. There are probably other limited applications. Just know this isn't a modern tablet. But at $28 it's a fantastic deal for a photo frame.

I set up several of these years ago with these instructions: https://web.archive.org/web/20250...hoto-frame

Once it's set up, you just copy photos to Google Drive that you want to add to show up on the frame. Piece of cake.

If you want a modern Android tablet, someone else mentioned the Onn 12.1" Pro from Walmart. That's what I use, and it's great. Was $96, not sure if that deal will come back: https://slickdeals.net/f/19166674-open-box-128gb-onn-12-1-octa-core-pro-wi-fi-tablet-2024-model-grey-96-free-shipping

EDIT: That Onn tablet, gray color, is currently $112. Not the best price ever, but excellent specs for that price: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Pre-Ow...om=/search

Yes, that was the Slate color. That's the Plus model. I was hearing rumors that's what it was so I rolled the dice to see what they would send me. I won this time

Amazon's site says I can trade it in on a new Kindle and receive 20 percent off plus $25 so I won the game this time.

I didn't realize I could add the Google play store with Fire Toolbox. I can't seem to get it to block lockscreen ads, but oh well, at least I can install apps from the Playstore again. Thanks for the tip about Fire Toolbox.

You can actually add the Google Play store without jailbreaking. You are just stuck with FireOS skin.
