Solid deal for your child. This and the ~$80 per year U.S. Mobile Apple Watch deal for service is good. That's what we have for our 9 year old for emergency use. Better than giving them a cell phone for more screen time.

I think it means it comes in a standard blank cardboard box instead of retail packaging. I recently bought an open box item from a large retailer and it came in a recyclable cardboard box with no labeling.

Would the 80$ year work even if one already has a cellphone? Would it still link to phone? Or would you have to pick one linked to phone and the watch just being its own separate wireless plan? Might be good idea for when you send them off for sports but can't have their phones?

I can confirm. Still trying to deal with woot. They did offer a full refund, but watch was all in use and just a hassle to return. Check serial number before you activate, if you can.

I concur. My watch was brand new on arrival but out of warranty. They offered a $50 partial refund and I took it. Battery life is 100%.

It's a standalone plan, so no cell phone needed except for initial setup. But you should also be able to sync it with a phone to share notifications if you'd like.
