I've heard that these specific drives seem to have issues with the PS5, where they seem to disconnect randomly and corrupt the data. Seemed to come up in quite a few reviews (note: even though it works on ps5, you can only store/run ps4 games off of it, as expected)

If you don't mind refurbished, you can get some great deals on them from WD on eBay, especially when they have a coupon going on!

I bought one for a normal PC backup HDD and have had no issues at all with it

wow I purchased this drive for $75+tax from bestbuy in 2022. I can't believe the price is so crazy now.

I had the same issue with my Xbox Series X. The HDD would work for about 8 months then start disconnecting randomly. Initiated warranty claim, and the 2nd HDD did the same thing after about 7 months. Initiated warranty claim again, the 3rd HDD has been good so far for the last 4 years, although I don't play games directly off the HDD as much now as with the 1st and 2nd drives.

Mine worked for 2-3 years on my XSX. Rarely used it though (meaning it wasn't connected often). One day it just no longer was detected by my console. Not been able to revive it. Supposedly it doesn't have SATA connector inside, so I cannot ascertain if the drive went bad. No warranty.

I've had a lot of hard drives over my lifetime, but not really had issues with them until now. For all the praise WD is getting, I'm not impressed.
