I'll note that I've read conflicting info about the warranty timeframe. Some reddit posts mention it's one year but everywhere advertised online is three.

Also, I've read that it covers burn in but an HP response to the Q&A section on Best Buy wrote "In most cases, this damage is considered customer induced and is not covered by any standard warranty. Therefore, it is the owner's responsibility to cover the cost of repair unless they have previously purchased Accidental Damage Protection (ADP). If the product is out of warranty, a fee-based service may be initiated by contacting HP. To minimize the risk of burn-in, you can use screen savers, reduce brightness, and periodically change the content displayed on your screen. For more information, please contact HP Support."

In my opinion, make sure you check it in store before you let them check it out for you if they allow it. That way you can see if there's anything major wrong with it. At least visually like scratches or burn in. I've never had a store Tell me I couldn't do that first

I learned this from a video documentary I saw where Mike Brady said, "Caveat Emptor". My experience with BB "Open-Box - Excellent" is... it doesn't always have all the parts, even though that is listed. And.. Homo Erectus level support from B&M peeps AND chat support.

The only redeeming benefit is the ability to return such items at your local B&M store.

So I picked up an open-box good yesterday. It was a buy/return previously (not floor model) and it's been sitting in their in-store inventory since September lol. It's in flawless condition, but only included the monitor, stand and a HUGE 480W power brick.

How's this vs an Asus XG32UCWG? The HP is 4K 240Hz vs the Asus' 4K 165Hz, and has much better port selection (the Asus' 15W USB-C PD is struggling with keeping my laptop charged...); but the Asus is brighter and glossy which I prefer. Just wondering if people have used matte QD-OLEDs and glossy OLEDs and prefer one over the other.

A closer comparison may be this one that's $755 open-box. I was thinking about it as well tbh.
ASUS - ROG Swift 32" Dual Mode (4K 240Hz, FHD 480Hz) OLED 0.03ms Gaming Monitor with FreeSync and HDR (DisplayPort, HDMI) - Black - Open Box
Model: PG32UCDP and it has a 90W USB-C port.
I did buy the HP though as it was $225 less.

That's awesome!

I bought a 48" B5 "Open-Box - Excellent", but arrived missing screws for the legs. Chat told me the stores would have screws. Stores ignored me at first, I had to argue "Excellent" should have included EVERYTHING. I went to two stores, but they don't carry extra screws in B&M. Failure of many fronts by BB!!

I ended up having them pickup the monitor from my home... don't want to waste anymore of my time and gas money. They can eat both the shipping to and from me! Mad

yeah that's why I went with the HP. I picked it up last night and the geek squad agent who checked it out for me was kind enough to plug it in in store. The monitor has a build-in service mode where it cycles through solid colors so you can check for dead pixels/burn-in.
There's a full review here but the on-screen display/menu looks AMAZING. It makes my Alienware one look like it's from 20 years ago.

how good is this monitor for dual use with mac/pc? I have a KVM and want something both for productivity and gaming. I've heard OLED's are not ideal for text rendering but not sure if it's improved...

I've had an Alieware 32" 4K OLED for the last two years and no issues. The nice thing about this is that it's open-box and you can easily return it if you don't like it.

Great deal! Just get the geek squad warranty with it if you are worried and still worth it
