Displayport 2.1 is 80Gbps. Displayport does not have a 40Gbps standard. The closest thing is usb4/thunderbolt 4 with DP1.4 (40Gbps) but that is data plus display. Displayport 1.4 is 32.4Gbps.

VESA certified at 80gbps? I think they only have 40gbps certification which this cable was previously being sold as.

Warning: Despite the marketing, this DisplayPort cable will not:

- Overclock your 5090 into a quantum computer

- Upscale your K/D ratio to 16K

- Turn your 60 fps aim into 240 fps skill

- Make your monitor show frames from the future

- Magically fix Windows updates, your ping, or your life choices

It's just a very fancy tube that yells tiny electrical ones and zeros slightly faster than the cheap tube you already own.

The spec that actually counts on this is 4k/240Hz

That's more of a bandwidth equivalent than a resolution spec. The description of the cable mentions "16K(15360*8640)@60Hz"...

BUT...there does (or did) exist a 110" 16K monitor:

It's based on 4k at 60hz, so 8k = 4k/120hz and 16k=4k/240hz

Not sure if this cable is certified. Doesn't mention certified, DP80, or UHBR20 in the listing.
However this other Ivanky listing mentions the above.

I'm guessing this slickdeal is for the non certified version which explains the pricing.

According to the product description, it's based on "16K(15360*8640)@60Hz". You're using examples of bandwidth needed, all based on 4K resolution at different refresh rates.

Bandwidth is usually how these cables are rated. Description may have glanced over this. It's like a gauge of cable but only describing one voltage/amp combination. Don't always depend on "description" as it's a summary of the underlying concept.

I bought this cable, and it's so good, that my TV is now sentient and did my taxes and updated my living room decor.
