I'm on the fence about this because its a 6 year old laptop at this point. I have no idea how long Apple plans to support these M1 macs but this might be the last year it gets updates.

They do absolutely NOTHING to refurbish them -- other than a power test and spit shine, usually with more spit than shine!

These are not "refurbished". They're "used". As in garage sale finds. Beat up, 5 year old machines, with a processor that'll be soon end-of-life'd. No meaningful warranty, high chance for a worn out battery.

The M4 and M5 base chips (not pro, not max) outperform this chip.

I would agree I would never buy seller refurbished MacBook ever again. Especially this old. Last year I brought one off of eBay for the same spec and same price as this one and what I received was worn down computer. Keys were all shiny, battery cycle in the 700+ range, and a few dings and dents on the bottom case. These MacBook Pros are still capable devices but not this price range. It's like buying a 100K mileage pickup for $50K.

Bought a refurbished iPhone Mach 2025. Two week ago. It was IME blocked by t-Mobile. The original owner. Nothing, nothing he seller said nothing they can do. As well as Amazon.

When Apple released the Macbook "NEO", it was pretty much an expiration notice for the M1 line. Up to that point, they were still making base M1 Macbook Air 8gb/256gb (for EDU and Walmart). They clearly couldn't discontinue the newer M1 Pro/Max or M2 chips until they could discontinue the M1 base.

Once they retired that, the end is near for the entire M1 line (and probably M2). Gotta love the future where what you own just "expires".
