The H models of Samsung soundbars are currently rolling out and the price of the F models will continue to fall, so I wouldn't recommend pulling the trigger on these just yet.

I tried the q990f to simplify my system in my living room.
For $2000 retail? No way in hell. For $900? Mehhhh.
In my opinion its very over hyped. Maybe in the perfect room but it didn't fill my living room well. I felt the dialogue out of the center sounds a bit hollow.
My wife who is not a techy home theater audio snob said "can you put the other stuff back? This doesn't sound good."
So. If you NEED simple and minimal wires - go for it. But if you can do a true 5.1 or above with a good center - I'd still say go that route.

What was your original sound system before going w/ Q990F?

Got the Q990c back in July 2024. Sound and volume was good for sound bar. But not as good as my Yamaha 7.2 surround system. Yamaha was louder and more clear. The Samsung sound bar keeps disconnecting from my TV (LG). I have to unplug the sound bar and plug it back in to work. I am using the eARC HDMI to connect to TV. On sale it is a good sound system, but not near worth the MSRP. OH and it is quite heavy.
