That first review is gold.
BTW don't use these to light a smoking device made from metal. OUCH. Shocking

I really hate these things. They make a super high pitch noise / grinding sound from the arc. Don't buy if you're sensitive to that kind of thing.

I have a similar one. No high pitch noise but each charge only lasts for 2 candle lightings.

I have these and the endpoints get dirty a lot. The battery lasts for a really long time.

I've got a few of these and also the version with the goose neck (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BVYDJ6KQ) and they work surprisingly well. Battery life is kind of hit or miss from one random brand to another, but at these prices they sure beat a traditional fuel based stick lighter. They're a convenient size, approx the size of a longer marker/pen/pencil, to store on a shelf or in a junk drawer without getting lost like a common bic lighter. I've used them for candles, gas fireplace, outdoor firepit.. even to ignite wadded up charcoal bag in the base of a chmnea for a smoker. It's my new go-to for the smoker because the arc handles wind much better than a flame.

Great for lighting your gas fireplace, but hit-or-miss with candles.

Could this be used as a stun gun?

Sure. Won't stop anyone, won't disable anyone, but you can slightly annoy them and give them a small welt.

I liked the idea of these. But I've been using them for some years now and find they fail soon enough that, the $1 stick lighters at walmart might just end up being cheaper long term. Maybe they'll get better quality over time, idk
