Thanks!
If anyone is wondering how it would have compared to previously: I booked a rental back in Feb for a trip next month. The prices are now about 50$ higher. Does not offset the cash card promo. This is just one data point though.
Thanks!

Car and hotel rates fluctuates by optimization algorithms used by all major companies. Rates change depending on demand, market competitors, and so on. I've used Costco rentals for decades and the rates can change every week. Typically you get better rates if you plan your trip many months in advance because the algorithms are set to entice you to reserve with lower demand. Once a certain reservation threshold is met, the rates increase closer to the date.

This makes sense. For sure their algorithms want to max their $$$. Interesting that Costco is offering a cash card this time around.

Could be a sign of car rental companies predicting a decline in travel due to increased costs like gas prices . I am sure Costco getting some form of payback
