Seems like a good deal. Ends today. I see used lower boxes on Facebook Marketplace advertised for at or close to this cost.

Not too bad if it's on sale and you need an inexpensive tool chest. The Craftsman 2000 series is better. $90 more, double the weight capacity, and soft close drawers.

I dont understand how they call this heavy duty when it uses thinner gauge steel than the the craftsman S1000 for 177. Kobalt is powder coated vs craftsman is not. Kobalt says max capacity is 600lbs vs 500 for craftsman. https://www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMA...1000746798

If youre in SE Alabama, I have a S2000 for sale for this price. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks for those details . Are soft close drawers really all that important? I mean as long as you're not slamming it shut it shouldn't be loud or anything right? And I'm not a mechanic just a DIY homeowner so I doubt I would load this thing up with more than five or 600 pounds. Probably be lucky if it was 200 to 300.

It's nice because you dont have to close them all the way. At about 3 or so inches away, it grabs the drawer and finishes closing it for you. It's almost impossible to make those drawers slam shut.

I have the blue top and bottom. Work fantastic. The only issue I had was getting two damaged units by either their shipping or delivery people. Lowe's eventually got me non-dented units and all is good! The blue ones are tough to find especially on sale. I highly recommend to have them deliver them because they had to box and unbox each unit then take them back to their warehouse, saved me lots of traveling to the store and back. I hope this helps you!

I bought the white one in the last month for $220.

Decent quality for a light duty cabinet. I'm not using it in a workshop, I have it in my home office and probably don't have more than 10-15lbs in each drawer. I specifically needed a cabinet with 6" deep drawers, and I wanted it in white, so this Kobalt unit was one of the very that met my needs.

They are extremely well packaged, mine had absolutely no damage as there was lots of well thought out cardboard protectors and fillers. I picked up at a local store that had the unit in stock.

The caster base plates were annoying, there wasn't enough clearance between the bolt heads and base plate bends (on the fixed casters) to be able to use a socket on the bolt head. Had to use an open end wrench once I could no longer thread the bolts in further with my fingers. That was about the only minor annoyance encountered during assembly.

The Craftsman S2000 is a MUCH better value in the short or long run. When I looked at the Kobalt, I couldn't believe how flimsy/lightweight it was, and those drawers aren't going to hold up over time. The Craftsman is well made, and at the sale price is the real deal.
