The blower sells for $175-$200 by itself (no batteries) on eBay. It is because this model is considered one of the absolute top battery leaf blowers out there. This is why everyone jumped in on this deal a week ago, and then again now.
My cheap (corded) craftsman is as effective as anything I've seen in the battery powered reviews.
The only thing I haven't blown with my blower is pine needles, so I can't comment on that.
Go ahead and complain about having a cord, and it might be annoying in a yard with lots of obstacles (I have a tree right in the middle of my front yard), and they are loud, but I've also owned the blower for just under 15 years without having to rebuy batteries.
The only real steps up to the cheapy blowers are the commercial backpack ones.
