FYI: This is not the larger Go + Play 3. This is the smaller Go + Play Mini. The larger Go + Play 3 has Bluetooth 5.2 with a 3-way speaker system. This Go + Play Mini has Bluetooth 4.1 and is a 2-way speaker system.

I don't know why HK is frequently and intentionally cryptic about the exact model. They must know the model difference is difficult to identify by photo and the list price is misleading. Even the description omits every detail that would reveal it is a different model.

If these are sponsored ads, Slickdeals should require HK to use better model identification.

If you're use to seeing both, the handles stand out more on the 3, the mini doesn't extend to the sides, the mini has little legs, three is mostly flat bottomed, 3 is also a bit shinier, subtle differences up close, and other parts of it look newer than the mini

It's not double the size, but it is a tad larger, has more power and 3-way vs 2-way. This one is good and does not have the exposed sub underneath, but the 3 does have the slightly better sound.

For what it's worth, I got myself the wiim mini lately and plugged it into the aux port of the 3, and with Spotify direct and lossless audio the 3 sounds even better than before. but even via BT it's already a great speaker.
I am amazed they still make and sell this older model at this point. And still sucks that they don't have a proper app for updates or equalizer settings.

On android I use wavelet, which is pretty decent for sound tuning

When you can get the superior Go + Play 3 once or twice a year for the $130 price, it is worth the wait. I had two of them and they were probably the best, most dynamically variable sounding Bluetooth speakers I had ever experienced. Ultimately, I ended up selling them because I just didn't have a great use for premium indoor speakers with all of the sound system and powered tabletop speakers I have set up already.
This model is good but it would be worth the wait to try and catch the Go + Play 3 deal when it inevitably comes back around.

That being said, go into this understanding that both models will have shortcomings. Sound quality is great but you can get a ton more features in speakers that cost half as much. Neither of these models have app support, only three basic EQ settings that are not intuitive to find. Stereo pairing the Go + Play 3 is a manual process that must be done with every single power cycle. Period. There is no way around that. I've checked forums. I've contacted HK support. If you buy two, the TWS sounds absolutely incredible but it takes away from the entire experience when you have to manually set it up every time you turn them on. I have $20 speakers that instantly pair as soon as I turn them on so HK really dropped the ball on some super basic features in some amazing speakers.

Everything above is correct. The main problem with this post is the inflated list price of $450. That's deceptive because the HK website currently has the newer larger Go+Play 3 listed as $385. They edit the list price or remove better models to enhance their sale item. No idea why a premium audio brand uses such tactics.

BTW Harman Kardon was bought by Samsung in 2017, but is still headquartered in Connecticut.

Meh, I bought two of these last fall when they last went on sale and returned them both. They're very mid speakers marketed as high end. I got two because of the stereo setup capability. The sound quality was so poor it just made me angry to look at them. Tried them out for 4 days over a long weekend with a variety of music and placement scenarios and was easy to decide they weren't for me and my house. Also, the bottom-facing speaker without a grille is an accident waiting to happen. Why not put a grille over a bottom-facing speaker?? That big old silver handle is quite an obtrusive sight to behold!

This isn't intended to be a "this instead of that" comment, but I ended up going with two Sonos 100 and have been totally satisfied. Smaller footprint, stereo setup capability, much better sound quality.
