My home depot would not price match. I walked outside, asked for a price match on the chat on Home Depot's website, and the agent approved it and set it for store pick up. I walked back inside smiled and said thanks so much! 🤣

Experienced headaches everytime I tried to price match in person at hd. As soon as I mention the word price match, I immediately hear a new tone in their voice.

It's literally the same saw as the 779 except with the addition of the XPS.
DWS780: DeWalt takes accuracy seriously with the DWS780. It features the XPS cross-cut positioning system, which casts a shadow that matches the width of the saw blade. This allows for extremely precise cuts without the need for additional adjustments. Not offered on 779
DWS780: This model is slightly heavier than the DWS779. Obviously not as much material in the 779.
DWS780: This model offers a cam-lock miter handle with detents at 10 popular angles for both bevel and miter cuts. It makes switching between common angles a breeze and ensures consistent results. While the DWS779 also has a cam-lock miter handle, it lacks the detents for bevel stops.
DWS780 can cut 16" Horizontal and 14" vertical DWS779 can cut 14" horizontal and 12" vertical
DWS780takes it up a notch with its depth stop. This allows for more controlled trench and dado cuts, which can be incredibly useful for certain woodworking projects. 779 doesn't have depth stop
The DWS780 has an upgraded dust collection system. It's more efficient at capturing sawdust and debris, keeping your workspace cleaner and healthier. The DWS779, on the other hand, still has a good dust collection system, but the DWS780 provides an edge in this department.

FYI, if you purchase at Lowe's you might need to get a price override. It rang up full price.

Guess I didn't do a whole lot of research! I've been proven very wrong.
I appreciate you posting that!

I hit up the local Home Depot with the price match and went home a happy camper. Thank you Slickdeals.

DeWalt can market them different as much as they like, but it doesn't change the facts that they build them from identical parts. I hear lots of people claiming that the DWS780 is built from better parts but that's simply not true.

FWIW, the 779 has a depth stop.

Please stop with the AI slop. They have the same cut capacity, same depth stop, same dust collection. Plus it misses actual differences between the two, like the range of angles they can cut.

Because it wasn't on sale in store. Daily deals say "1-Day Online-Only" right on them on the Lowe's website. They rang up correctly in store at $649

As ridiculous as it is, this has to do with the way Home Depot has their online and stores set up as 2 separate entities. When you order online to pick up in store, it counts as a HomeDepot.com sale that the store fulfills at no loss (or gain) whatsoever to them, and the item simply comes out of inventory at that store and off their balance sheet. No one in the store has to explain to anyone else why they knocked 40% off the price.
