These are different than the Kodiak protein oats and the Quaker protein oats that were recently posted.

This is actually a specific strain of oats that has been conventionally bred (non-GMO) to have more protein. The Kodiac and Quaker brand products have various proteins added to them in the form of pea protein or whey powder.

In all three cases, the protein is about 10 g per serving vs. 4 grams for regular rolled or steel cut oats. However, the serving size for all of these is about 25% more than traditional oats, so the increase in protein is a little bit overstated.

I was really excited about this oatmeal at first because of the reasons mentioned above. You can always add your own protein powder to oatmeal if you want to go that route. After buying I realized that it was chock-full of oat hulls, which are miserable to eat because they stick to the back of your throat when trying to swallow them. It was definitely not worth the couple extra grams of protein or increased price from regular oatmeal.

I haven't experienced the back of the throat problem. These do take significantly longer to cook than regular rolled oats but after getting used to these I actually prefer them

Also using these over powdered protein also sidesteps the grittiness problem and is a less processed food

Maybe I just got a bad batch. So to be clear, your oatmeal isn't full of these things? https://m.media-amazon.com/images...G4t7fL.jpg
