Lot's of lying Vine reviews. "I ordered this camera"... no you didn't. Also be aware there is a subscription necessary for this to save videos. Otherwise all you will get is pictures.
I don't want to argue, and clearly you have more experience with Vine than me. However, the majority, even for junk, of Vine reviews are positive. In the old days, if you made too many negative reviews, you would get kicked from Vine. Maybe it has changed. Even still, the fact someone is getting something for free (or has to pay tax) still influences their review of the item. I therefore don't put any value on Vine reviews.
I want to say no. Get the cheapest Eufy cam instead and put it by a bird feeder. Eufy is a known decent quality cam with no paid subscription and it does recognize animals (to be honest, not sure about birds though) and also motion and you can view that on an app. You could get a Wyze cam but I think nowadays they do require a subscription for video clips? Maybe someone knows other decent brands. I mean, you could risk it. As long as it's sold by Amazon you could return it within 30 days if it's junk.
100%. I inadvertently did this when I setup a backyard eufy camera near the edge of a garden trellis. Birds perch on it all the time!
Sure⦠What's the point of Vine then and why would anyone participate if they paid more than retail to try something they didn't really need in the first place?
"Sometimes" is a word you should get to know.
Also, people are foolish and think that "free" is "free" until they realize how much in taxes they have to pay. You'll see how many people drop out after a year because they realize it's mostly crap they wouldn't buy in the first place and they do have to pay (income tax) for it. But as someone who admittedly doesn't know much about Vine, keep making assumptive statements like they were facts.

You didn't even contradict anything I said...
And income tax is what, average of 20%. So you are still just paying $2 for a $10 item. I stand by my opinion that Vine reviews are not something I would consider.

Yup, eufy front x2 and rear. They get'em all the time!
I've bought two like this off of amazon in the last year.
First one was for an older couple to be able to keep an eye on the birds at their place when they're away. Easy to set up and it ran for about 4 weeks before the battery died. Granted that this is around Seattle latitude mid-winter so the solar panel was not keeping up with the energy demands. Recharged the battery via USB-C and haven't had an issue since.
Second one I installed in my front yard. Captures lots of birds and also doubles as a front door cam for packages etc.
I don't pay for a subscription, and what I get is live videos through an app, last 2 days worth of motion activated photos available in the app (Can add an SD Card for increased storage), ability to take a photo or video (30 sec) live from the app.
Night light can be turned on when viewing live. Can talk through the app to the camera (Good for talking to package delivery people when I'm not home).
I get a monthly nag screen for the subscription, but I don't want the features it would add, so I just ignore it.
For $25-30 I consider this a good deal, but it's common to find these for that price on amazon if you just look for a few minutes.

So after all this Vine talk, is this worth it for an aspiring bird watcher?
Ha! Why not. Even if the camera part of it isn't great...at least you still have the bird feeder. And for $25...it's about the same as a feeder. Give it a shot!
These are scammy. You need to pay a subscription fee for it to ID birds. $5-$10, depending on how much cloud storage you want. Otherwise, this bird feeder is a glorified motion-triggered SD camera.

I own some eufy cams and they are not reliable for bird watching, sorry. And just so you know, I got those cameras off the Vine program lmao. This past week, a pair of birds (I've seen them fly in several times) have been trying to nest on my camera every single day. Whenever I open the door, all of their damn twigs and whatnot fall down to the ground. I hate what they've done with AI for sound filtering as well -- like they try to mute the sound of doors and whatnot. Hate how the app fails when I need to pull a video up too.
