As a homeowner, with a 12in Sliding Miter, a table saw, and a sawzall, where does this fit in my arsenal. What does it do that I cannot do with the other three tools?

If you don't know why you need it you don't need it.

I use mine (not this model) on metal exclusively. Those other saws aren't appropriate for metal generally.

agreed. My reciprocating saw gets very inappropriate with metal.
Bandsaws are good for pipe, post, bar cutting. You can do those with a reciprocating saw but it'll get real messy and by the end of it you're gonna get real sloppy. You can do them on a miter saw with the appropriate metal blade, but you'd have to remove them from wherever they are first.

Yesterday I was just cutting steel, alumunium and even a little wood and was thinking "Dang, I love having this band-saw!".
