I see this model a lot on here so clearly it's decent, but any merit to holding out for a deal on a Brother one and spending a bit more? Always very happy with Brother products.

Warranty, customer service, and generally better quality control. I've had one of these label makers for a few years and never had an issue. Worst case, you waste 1 or 2 label figuring out the print settings you like.
edit. Looks like they may also able to print variable length labels, but feels like a moot point.

I tried this one for a second, but was unhappy that it didn't have a continuous label option. All of theirs were like an inch and a half/2" long. Ended up going returning it for a different model that does offer a continuous string of label so I can print whatever I want.
I miss having a physical keyboard like with my Brother one. I also prefer the brother one cutting with a straight blade rather than the serrated blade my new one has. That all said, I don't miss the several inches of label I lose every time I print with the Brother, and it seems pretty easy to get new labels, at least for now.
