Depending on use case.. personally I would look for a deal on the newer BRUSHLESS version. Used this one in the field a few times, a bit cumbersome. Have the brushless and it's pretty nice. Definitely prefer my Makita barrel grip though.

I thought the same but needed it so I got the brushed one. It's not terrible and for occasional use, I see no issues yet. If possible, do get brushless though

If you're going with a D handle jigsaw, over a barrel grip, than I would suggest waiting for a deal on the DeWalt DCS334. It came out 6 years after the DCS331, and the tech, and improvements during that time were substantial IMO. A more powerful brushless motor, a much better bevel adjustment system, the improved blade change system, the variable speed switch at the top instead of being built into the trigger. It's just a better design overall, and my favorite D handle jigsaw. As far as barrel grip vs. D handle, it's a matter of preference. If I am doing a cut that is more intricate, and precise, than I usually will grab the barrel grip (DCS335), but for most cuts, I prefer the D handle.
