Just wanted to add a data point.

This worked for me today in Texas for an S26+.

I went to Walmart and bought the Moto G 2025 64gb, turned it on and got to the home screen, went to spectrum and traded it in.

Spectrum had to select "Other" for carrier and I got the $400 off plus $705 for the trade in. It seems like taxes were on the price of the phone minus the trade in value, so taxed on $395 at 8.25% taxes were $32.58.

In total I paid $27.57 to Spectrum (1100-400-705=-5 +32.58 tax)

On top of that I paid Walmart $32.35.

So all in was $59.92.

It's instant in the spectrum stores. Online it takes a few weeks.

I think this is one of the cheapest, easiest to purchase phone that qualifies for $705.

Once I signed in it seems to let me pay $699 in full for the 26+ and also get the $720 back for my trade in. When I sign out the old info is there about it needing to be new residential customers. Also no additional money off for the s26 when signed in only the 26+ and Ultra. Makes me consider the Ultra. Never had a phone that big before. Will be interesting to see if this is real.
Since when no additional money off? we used to get credit last year for trading in S25 to S25.

Don't do this deal, if they lock you into this 3 year deal they will keep jacking up your monthly internet prices especially if you have no competition in the area. You'll be paying 100 dollars a month for subpar internet and you won't be able to haggle or threaten to leave yearly for the discounts if you have mobile plan. I have municipal fiber available at 65 and they slowly raise it 5 dollars a month every couple of months until I call to knock it back down to 70
It's not a contract for the phone. You can pay it off early.

That gravy train has been over since the S26 series was released. This S26+ deal for ~$100 is as good as it gets right now.

Meant if you trade in a $30 phone for an s26, there is no additional discount like for the s26+ or the Ultra. They have not been allowing a spectrum s26 series to be traded for another spectrum s26 series this cycle.

Got one 26Ultra and one s26+ on two different free lines (two different accounts). Can not figure out how they got the number for the tax. $50 tax for the Ultra and $35 tax for the 26+. Hard to complain. Would not have gotten the 26 had I known but again, hard to complain. In store. Everything has been approved already. Received emails from assurant. The store knew about the promotion and people there could not have been nicer. Will unlock both after 60 days and put my s26 back on a line to have it unlocked. Will try before 60 days but if it takes another 60 days I can live with that. Thanks for posting!

The deal is dead. The website shows only new customers now.
Worked for me and still see it. You have to be signed into your account to see the promo. Always said new customers only if you don't sign in.

Weird. I got charged tax on the $400 discount in-store.
They also messed up my device evaluation. Got $7 instead of $67 for iphone 12, and $2 instead of $18 for A16.
That is weird. Don't think the tax is on the $400 or it would be the same for both the s26+ and the Ultra and it is not. Makes no sense but not worth arguing.

Thanks for the post, OP! Just a heads-up: the store wouldn't take the 64GB Moto G. They mentioned the system is currently only accepting the 128GB version.
To accept the 64GB variant, tell them to choose "other." The system will take it.

Had a qualified trade in laying around so I decided to order an S26+ online. Can't beat $0. I'm going to try and get the $700 trade in credit refunded to my credit card, but if not, we have Spectrum service anyway so it'll just cover the bill until it runs out. Thanks OP!

I have traded in with spectrum in the past and paid the whole phone off from the get go. After my trade was accepted and a credit applied to my account I called them and asked them to transfer to my method of payment. After 60 day I called them again and asked for an unlock and got a message on my phone it was unlocked in about 20 minutes.

No, it's correct. Because the ultra is more expensive so there's extra tax on the leftover.

You may be already aware, but you cannot cover internet charges with your spectrum mobile credits.
