Just wanted to add a data point.

This worked for me today in Texas for an S26+.

I went to Walmart and bought the Moto G 2025 64gb, turned it on and got to the home screen, went to spectrum and traded it in.

Spectrum had to select "Other" for carrier and I got the $400 off plus $705 for the trade in. It seems like taxes were on the price of the phone minus the trade in value, so taxed on $395 at 8.25% taxes were $32.58.

In total I paid $27.57 to Spectrum (1100-400-705=-5 +32.58 tax)

On top of that I paid Walmart $32.35.

So all in was $59.92.

It's instant in the spectrum stores. Online it takes a few weeks.

I think this is one of the cheapest, easiest to purchase phone that qualifies for $705.

was anyone successful in upgrading twice? first to s26+ and then ultra?
I upgraded the line today and when i try upgrading U, i can see the "Trade-In Value($470.00) + Spectrum Promotion($700.00)" till last page, not sure if i should go ahead
(worried because - trade in page says - "One trade-in promotional offer per line.")
Not sure if anyone has tried this, with the new updated promo, but here it goes - maybe add a new BYOD line for $20 on an old unlocked phone, move esim from your new S26+ to another unlocked phone, and then go to a store, and ask to trade the S26+ on the new BYOD line for an Ultra. Since the term mandates one promo credit per line, and this BYOD line never received any credit/promo, theoretically, it should work.

I'm tempted to try myself, but I think I've reached my 'visit limit' at the local shops! I'm pretty sure the reps would see me walking in and give me a flat 'no' before I even opened my mouth, despite my best efforts to be their favorite customer WinkBig Grin

What happens to first phone if you do on same line? Will it get orphaned or switched to new line.. will be locked in thar case right?
I suppose nothing will happen, but if you'd like another trade in phone on that same line, then I'd suggest moving the sim to a different/unlocked old phone. Some reps at the store might feel differently when they see a new spectrum phone on the line and you ask for another new trade in phone for that same line.

And yes, these phones are locked, and will require 60 days of active service before they can be unlocked. If you have 2 new locked phones on one line, use one phone for 60 days, unlock on day 61+, move esim to the 2nd locked spectrum phone, use that also for 60 day to unlock, and so on...

No, but I got the following case for my S26 Uptraand I'm super happy with the case (it's a 1:1 otterbox defender ripoff):

AICase Belt-Clip Holster Case for Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra 6.9",Heavy Duty Drop Protection Full Body Rugged Shockproof/Drop Proof/DustProof Military Grade Tough Durable Cover for Galaxy S26 Ultra_282

Good case, but I personally prefer slightly slimmer tpu magsafe cases that come with 2 or 3 tempered glass screen protectors, costing $3 - $5 (amazon prime). I'm using one at $4 for my new Ultra. I've used similarly priced cases+protectors for my S25+ and other phones for over a year, and they've been great and as protective as the more expensive counterparts.

Since I now have 2 additional new S26+, I'll be looking to spend at most $10 for the 2 cases with screen protectors.

I got a 2nd S26+ in store and traded another S25, so free again and extra credit to my account. This time they set it up as installment, so I just went home and paid it off. I asked chat for a refund of the $1100 credit, which will take a few days.

Wait, so you chose installments instead of pay in full? Why would you do that? Are you sure chat will refund you?

I went to a local store earlier today to trade my new Spectrum S26+ for an Ultra, but I was flat-out denied. The representative explained that the $700 promo credit automatically disappears at the final checkout stage when trying to trade any S26 variant for another S26 if you have already redeemed that credit for the S26 series. He noted that this restriction applies whether it is an upgrade or a new line.

However, since he mentioned I could try a different device, I successfully traded an old Moto Stylus for another new S26+ on the same line on which I had previously traded for a S26+ with the $700 credit. It seems that while an S26-to-Ultra trade is restricted once you've used the promo, you can still get the $700 credit multiple times—even on the same line—as long as you are trading in a non-S26 phone. So, now I have 2 S26+ traded on the same line, both unused; will be using them one at a time once any of the 2 Ultras and 1 iphone 17e on my 3 lines are unlocked. If a path to trade for Ultra with current promo pops up, will go for that.

I recall in the thread somewhere someone mentioning the same even for a new line - no $700 for s26+ to ultra trade. Has anyone confirmed this using a new line recently in store, after the promo was updated?
For that same line, do you need to replace the 1st S26+ by a unlocked phone first before doing the second trade in and getting the 2nd S26+?

I mean, it makes sense. They will have one phone sitting on a line to start up the unlock timer and wait 61 days. Then they will do the other phone and wait another 61 days. If you're wondering how they did the trade in with S26+ on the line, kind of iffy and depends on the store/staff. Some look at it poorly and will refuse if they see the S26+ or Ultra there, so a good method to help avoid that is swapping the line onto a different phone or the phone you're trading in. If you don't want to do the deal in-store, you can do it online. Just choose your phone, enter the trade-in info, and select your current active line when it asks about purchasing a line. Then you're at the mercy of potential package stealers/Assurant denying your trade-in.

FYI: Last year I bought 5 S25 and 1 S25 Ultra. I was able to unlock all of them within 3 or 4 months and all under 1 free unlimited line. If setting up the phone for unlocked like you said, it would take at least 1 years (6 x 2 months) to unlock 6 phones. 😀😀 I believe the Spectrum unlocked network starts counting the day that the phone is activated on its network regardless of its active status or the phone number. That was why I was able to unlock 6 phones within 3 months under 1 line.

I got all 3 phones from the same store, same rep, on the same free line, on 3 separate visits and I'll be requesting the sim unlock at the 60 day mark from each phones date of purchase just like I have for every promotion in the past. I'm the past every phone has been unlocked by chat without issues. I'm hoping this year will be the same results.

Does it start counting down the moment you add the phone to a line and still keep ticking after it's swapped? I heard people mention that in last years threads but I didn't really understand the instructions well.

Oh, wow. It's just based on purchase date? Do you have to swap the phone to the line when having them unlock it or does it not matter?

Just an FYI if you live in Clermont, FL area:
I checked everything online before going to the Spectrum store and the phone (I have and old Pixel 5A with a cracked screen but everything still worked) was accepted online ($3 plus the $400). When I went to the Spectrum store, the guys said that he couldn't give me the phone at the store. I have to order it online (He could have done it there for me but I rather order it myself at home) and then I have to ship my old phone to Spectrum because he couldn't accept a phone with a cracked screen, even thought it was accepted online. I was hoping to save on taxes but I guess not. I ended up paying $984.49 with tax. So, if you don't have a phone that is In perfect condition, you won't get the automatic discount at the store.
did you get the base s26?

I'm not 100% sure if it matters but yes I definitely have the specific phone I'm trying to unlock on the line when it hits 60 days and I contact chat. I also specifically ask for whatever phone by name and IMEI when chatting with the rep.
