Just wanted to add a data point.

This worked for me today in Texas for an S26+.

I went to Walmart and bought the Moto G 2025 64gb, turned it on and got to the home screen, went to spectrum and traded it in.

Spectrum had to select "Other" for carrier and I got the $400 off plus $705 for the trade in. It seems like taxes were on the price of the phone minus the trade in value, so taxed on $395 at 8.25% taxes were $32.58.

In total I paid $27.57 to Spectrum (1100-400-705=-5 +32.58 tax)

On top of that I paid Walmart $32.35.

So all in was $59.92.

It's instant in the spectrum stores. Online it takes a few weeks.

I think this is one of the cheapest, easiest to purchase phone that qualifies for $705.

You didn't have to keep ot active for 120 days to get it unlocked?
They can use their 1st line to unlock on Spectrum and it's 60 days.

I forgot to mention that the issue was the sticker with the QR code causing the issue, btw.

Oh god, reading slowly too im confused. So we pay for the phone in full (~990 including tax). And once you submit the trade in, you get a credit on the account? So it just deducts future payments from the credit?
Sounds like you're doing an online order. Once you get the email from Assurant about your trade-in being good, your mobile account within a day or two usually gets credited back. You then call customer support or speak to online chat to get the credits put back onto your card that you billed initially.

Metro limits the number you can do per account. If your orders go smoothly, some get 2 per account, some get 3. Several metro threads about this. Suggest you read them before going down this road. Also, sometimes the trade ins to apple just don't work. Most of the time they do. I have been pretty lucky so far, but have not used gift cards to use apple products. Sometimes they ban you if you have too many.
Metro is so hit or miss and so unreliable. Some couldn't use specific browsers. Some, after your first phone order, you can only order through that phone. On that phone it could not let you order with your wifi line so you would switch to the phone's wifi. Or it would just deny any phone purchases after the first purchase. I did this earlier this year and just got frustrated after the first phone purchase, so I purchased two tablets to be done with them. This also doesn't help with how horrible their site is in general. If you get the deny message, you would have to cycle either to another browser or another device. Don't even get me started with some cards just being auto rejected even though they were a first time customer.

Yes, it just needs activating on the line. When I got my S25, I activated it and shelved it; then put the old unlocked phone that I used every day back to the line. When S25 is ready for unlocked, I put it back to the line and requested unlocked.
Did you have to occasionally put the esim back into your locked s25, or you simply shelved it inside your drawer after activation, for 60 days of no use?

Wait, so you chose installments instead of pay in full? Why would you do that? Are you sure chat will refund you?
Yes I'm sure chat will refund me because chat refunded me twice last month.

I didn't chose installments. I just let the worker complete the purchase. I don't care because I get all the credits either way.

If you order online is it best just to do the payment plan and then pay it off in full after the trade in is credited to your account? Seems like that would keep the charge off of your credit card for a little while.

My excess credit of $263.76 from Ultra to S26+ trade just now posted to my credit card account as a refund. I had submitted refund request via chat and Spectrum called me the next morning to confirm. Took 3 days altogether.

When I got my first ultra, I had to pay $461 on top of my s25+, this refund makes it so much better but still not as good as current ultra deal.
Was this an in-store purchase?

If I paid it in full today and activated a new line can I cancel the new line after one single month without it messing anything up on my account? Like it taking back the promo $700

They won't take back the credits. I ported out a new line after a few days and was not charged for monthly service for that line. They didn't like something I did, so they turned on mobile fraud protection and disabled my username and changed my PIN and account phone number. I had to go into the store so the store worker could call the fraud team to turn off fraud protection and the fraud team asked a lot of questions. Then everything was fine again and I was able to get S26+ for free. So your account can get messed up for a while.

I bought an S26 for $199 after trading in an old iPhone last week before the new offers. I went to the store and they said that I can only do a trade-in once per line and S26 to S26+/ S26 Ultra is not possible. I'm slightly disappointed that I could have gotten S26 Ultra if only I waited a week. Any way for me to get a refund or exchange my S26 to an S26+/ S26 Ultra?

Thank you for the info I definitely don't want that to happen because I'm on a family account. I may wait a month then do it. Hopefully that's long enough

Am I missing something? I looked at the terms for the $700 and I don't see any specific terms on the website nor did I get anything when I purchased in store. Before I saw--unlocked, 128 GB but I can't find it on the website. Did they remove it or am I just missing it somewhere?
