Just wanted to add a data point.

This worked for me today in Texas for an S26+.

I went to Walmart and bought the Moto G 2025 64gb, turned it on and got to the home screen, went to spectrum and traded it in.

Spectrum had to select "Other" for carrier and I got the $400 off plus $705 for the trade in. It seems like taxes were on the price of the phone minus the trade in value, so taxed on $395 at 8.25% taxes were $32.58.

In total I paid $27.57 to Spectrum (1100-400-705=-5 +32.58 tax)

On top of that I paid Walmart $32.35.

So all in was $59.92.

It's instant in the spectrum stores. Online it takes a few weeks.

I think this is one of the cheapest, easiest to purchase phone that qualifies for $705.

I just got this to work in store!

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra

Cobalt Violet 256GB

Device Payment Plan -Paid in Full

$1,299.99

$703.00 trade-in credit

Samsung GALAXY S8 PLUS

-$703.00

$400 Off

-$400.00

New order subtotal $196.99

Sales tax $49.25

Out the door price $246.24

This is Dallas Texas by the way.

Also did have the issue where he wasn't going to allow the Galaxy S8 Plus for trade-in with the mirror test says it wouldn't work, He tried it for 10 minutes himself

Some comments said to place it on the table and put the mirror above the phone, That worked instantly and it passed both camera test.

By the way the screen on the front of the Galaxy was completely smashed but still functioned
Which Dallas store? I got turned down at the Frisco store on Legacy. And do you know if they still have any in stock?

Just did the deal in store and paid tax only. Question though, Spectrum app still shows that the same free line is still eligible for a device upgrade, and I can replicate the trade in promo all the way to Purchase order screen. Does that mean I can double dip the same device promotion using the same free line?
Don't you need the first phone to be unlocked after 60 days? It's possible you can get another phone on the same line but first phone may not be unlocked as it will not have active mobile service.

if i do this online, i have to pay an upfront cost of 981.11 (s26 ultra). I send in the phone for trade-in. wait for the refund to go to the original form of payment.

is this correct? just want to make sure before submitting

True but that just means I need total 120 days to unlock both phones. I just don't want to risk of getting promo credit reversed

I went to the store other day, I bought two phones. I attempted the third one in a row, rep could not complete it as they started seeing fraud/too much activity alert. Anyone encountered it? Is there any solution for it? Thank you.

Same here, please post your experience in case you find if double dip possible. Actually if you trade in this S26+ for ultra, you get bigger phone & refund

Why even risk it. Pretty sure the terms say one promo per line. Just pay the tuition and buy another line like the $20 by the gig one.

Yes, I bought it online. I've already received the new phone and mailed out the old one.

One question, not sure it was already shared. I already got my instant Trade-in credit on S26+ and on my free line. Now, my wife wants a S26 Ultra for her. Can I use the same existing line with the straight talk phone on Walmart or have to activate a new line?

Since when does Texas have a 25% sales tax? Texas Tax Code Section 151.007(c)(5), the value of tangible personal property taken by a seller in trade as all or part of the consideration for a sale is excluded from the taxable sales price.

Some here report being able to unlock each phone in succession at the 60 day mark - you just have to unlock one, move it off the line, move a locked one on the line, unlock, and so on.

Yeah I gave up on it. After a couple tries, I deems that it isn't worth my time. Lost around $300 in questionable tax comparing to last year.

Not sure if this has affected anyone else but their online system seems to be glitching. After payment, my receipts/order status/emails don't show any evidence of the additional $700 trade in promos. Seems to have just disappeared on 2 separate orders.
Called and chatted with customer service and they don't have my trade-ins on record. They created a ticket so we'll see.
