This worked for me today in Texas for an S26+.
I went to Walmart and bought the Moto G 2025 64gb, turned it on and got to the home screen, went to spectrum and traded it in.
Spectrum had to select "Other" for carrier and I got the $400 off plus $705 for the trade in. It seems like taxes were on the price of the phone minus the trade in value, so taxed on $395 at 8.25% taxes were $32.58.
In total I paid $27.57 to Spectrum (1100-400-705=-5 +32.58 tax)
On top of that I paid Walmart $32.35.
So all in was $59.92.

It's been about 6 hours now and I haven't received any updates. If it ends up getting canceled again, I guess I'll just use the Moto G 5G I already purchased next time.
For reference, I've successfully completed one purchase in-store and one online before, and this canceled one was my third attempt.

Bought two of the $30 Moto G 5G phones at Walmart. Turned them on, skipped through setup without entering any info or connecting to a network, and reached the home screen.
Went into Spectrum store. S26+ sold out as expected. Rep said he could do ship to home with provisional trade-in approval, more or less the same process as ordering online (ship trade-in devices, get $700 credits). However, he was insisting he couldn't select "pay in full" because of not having the new devices on hand. I asked about the $400 discount being split over 36 months, and whether it comes off when you pay in full w/ the $700 credit, since IIRC that was an issue for at least one person in this thread. Or am I mistaken?
Anyway, the rep couldn't answer my straightforward questions convincingly and started to become pushy and rude. I thanked him for his time, brought everything home, and did the two separate orders within 10 minutes. Better to see everything done properly myself vs trusting the word of a guy who couldn't answer a simple math question. It sucks to pay the tax on the full $1,100 vs getting the trade-in discount instantly, but this is still is a great deal.
1.5 hours after placing the orders I haven't received any ID verification or other type of text or email. Hopefully neither order gets canceled.

this is regardless of whether you did it in store or mail in your trade in. if you mailed in the trade-in, you should get the taxes credited.
no need to waste time with useless spectrum agents.
These mobile companies have been defrauding customers for too long. Just imagine, you overpaid $100 of taxes per device, multiply that by how many they sold, they are pocketing tens of millions or more.
