Just wanted to add a data point.

This worked for me today in Texas for an S26+.

I went to Walmart and bought the Moto G 2025 64gb, turned it on and got to the home screen, went to spectrum and traded it in.

Spectrum had to select "Other" for carrier and I got the $400 off plus $705 for the trade in. It seems like taxes were on the price of the phone minus the trade in value, so taxed on $395 at 8.25% taxes were $32.58.

In total I paid $27.57 to Spectrum (1100-400-705=-5 +32.58 tax)

On top of that I paid Walmart $32.35.

So all in was $59.92.

It's instant in the spectrum stores. Online it takes a few weeks.

I think this is one of the cheapest, easiest to purchase phone that qualifies for $705.

Nicely done! That's too much work for me to save $10 a month. lol
You can call retention department to ask for another free year of mobile service when your free line expires instead of doing port-out and port-in process. I forgot about that.

Thanks again for all your help, can I get some quick guidance on hitting the 60 day mark, I'll wait till day 65 or so just to be safe. I did not port my #s over to Spectrum, family plan heavily discounted with other carrier.

Call or chat with CS to unlock S26 phone.
Move S26 over to other mobile carrier.
Call or chat CS to move an old phone over to the 12 month free line.
Call or chat CS to close 2nd mobile line $20/mo.

I assume I should do separate chats to unlock each phone on Spectrum, maybe a day apart? Anything else I'm missing here?

I think it is about unlocked and here is my experience and others and you decide:
1) Last year I bought 6 S25 series phones under 1 free line. When it is time to unlock, I move it to the free line to make active, then I requested unlocked. I ran into denied from the rep about 5 times, but I kept requesting and eventually I unlocked all 6 successfully.
2) One person posted here said that he got several S25 phones under free line and $20 lines. He said he cancelled all the $20 lines and when it is ready to unlock, he moved them to free line and requested unlocked. It worked out for him successfully. One person said it didn't work and he or she had to file consumer complaint and eventually Spectrum agreed to unlock it for courtesy.

Ok thx. I only have 2 lines, each with a S26 active on it. I'm keeping the 2nd $20 line active for the full 60 days so hopefully it makes it easier to unlock.

We should start seeing some unlock data points Mid May.

Are you asking if I I got the email after? Yes, but fraud prevention had to re-send it; I scanned the ID as requested and sent it. Then I called the next day and they processed it.

Did you remember if you initially activated the line on the s25 to start the clock on the 2 months or just move it over after 2 months for unlocking? I did this same thing last year but I forgot the process.

I kept track each of them when I activated and when it passed 60 days. All are under the free line and of course all are inactive after activation.

The cricket 16e are still only 79.99 - still worth it?
Probably not worth the effort now. I got mine when 16e was literally free and many scored 2-3 16es and/or 13 for $70 for a month of service, as existing users. That was simply incredible and unheard of. Glad I was able to score some.

Oh that's much easier! I might try that in a year.

how long does it take Assurant to do the assessment? My phone was received this Monday (April 20, according to UPS) but their website still shows it as me not having shipped it yet

Cross Posting here too - Just a message for people that are not getting updates on their online order: call CS rep and ask them to check with Fraud Prevention Dep. ... sometimes their system craps out and does not send an email with a link to verify identity (this happened to me). I made a call to a few CSs and they DO NOT see these issues on their end, so you have to ask explicitly and they put you on hold and check with them or transfer you over to Fraud Prevention. Make them double check the emails they have on file are correct and spell it out to check. If confirmation email does not come in a day after submitting identity confirmation items, call them back on the number provided in fraud prevention email.
Have you received "Your Order is Canceled Due to Credit Concerns" email?

Because here is my case: Spectrum asked me to verify with driver license 1 hour after placing the order. no email updates and no credit card charge until 2 days later, "Your Order is Canceled Due to Credit Concerns" email showed up.

It takes around 10 days to receive the email and 1-2 more days to actually show up the credit on the account.

Per Assurant's rep, it takes up to 10 business days to complete. One of my trade-ins took exactly 9 business days to get a response from Assurant.
