This trade in offer centers on a Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus with Mint service and a 60 day unlock, making it appealing for buyers who want a new flagship and can use a trade. The strongest upside is the lower effective price after trade in, with examples landing around $680 to about $900, and some trade values still taking meaningful money off. The main drawbacks are the locked period, the need for a port in some cases, and checkout issues where the trade did not apply as expected. Other nearby offers were also cited as cheaper, so the value depends heavily on the trade and service bundle.
Samsung upgraders who trade in a recent flagship, because the trade-in can cut the price to around $680 and still include a year of service.
The deal can require a port, and the phone is locked for about 60 days before unlocking. A Google Voice number can be used as a low-cost workaround if you need a ported line for the promo.
Reported outcomes range from about $680 to roughly $900 depending on the trade-in and whether you include Mint service. One example got $100 for a Samsung S23 FE, which still leaves a meaningful discount on the phone plus a year of service.
A Samsung S23 FE can reportedly get only $100 in trade-in credit. That still reduces the upfront cost, but older value phones are getting much lower credits than flagship models.
An unlocked S26+ has been cited at $499 plus tax, with about $100 for 120 days of Google Fi service, which can undercut the trade-in route. Another comparison points to a separate $780 no-trade offer with a free year of Mint service.
Lets be real, the S23 is over 3 years old and it was a value phone, which means most people got it for free or next to nothing with trade in, which is why its only $100, but thats still $100 off a New Flagship phone and a years worth of phone service for Mint if you go with their deal. So around $900 after trade in for brand new phone and a years worth of service is not to bad at all. especially since its unlocked after 60 days.

do you have a strategy to extracting as much trade-in value for these phones, if any? I feel at one point these were the hot items for trade in value. I forget when that was though. Maybe it was a few months after their release

Funny you ask, cause I mentioned this in another post, lately the trade in values for flagship phones has been crap to previous years. For almost 10 years I would get a new phone every year, all samsungs... The cost for me to upgrade from a previous gen to new gen was like $200-300 each year and usually came with freebies like a watch... Well a year ago the cost jumped to like $500 so I said screw it... I got paid by best buy to switch to a brand new Google Pixel 9 Pro XL a year ago $200 giftcard after my trade in. So I been on the pixel now and been waiting on a good deal on either a Pixel 10 or a S26 Ultra. With Samsung experiencing a q1 decline in 2026 for their phones I am hoping they learned their lesson for next year.
In short its always best to just trade in yearly, you get latest tech even if it did not change much, but more importantly you get a brand new battery which is worth the $200-300 in the long run. I used to sell and buy phones on swappa, but after one person scammed me and swappa was useless to help I stopped doing it.

Given how few upgrades the non Ultra models have been receiving, I don't think this is worth it. Last December the S25 Ultra was around $100 cheaper than this and is still almost identical to the S26U while there are still some Ultra exclusive features that haven't trickled down...
FYI.. I'm over a year into my S25u, and the OIS is going on my cameras. And apparently I'm not alone. Out of warranty to boot. I wouldn't buy one.

Seems like a pretty uncommon issue. There aren't many top posts on Reddit for example about it failing but it seems to be occurring in ultrawide mode. FWIW I have one from 5 months ago and cannot replicate the issue, but I also use a full case and screen protector and rarely take photos. You can get it fixed through warranty (but you are out it seems) and it seems like people say its because of repeated vibration or a drop, not normal usage...
But even so I think the Google Fi deal posted above is better if it can be replicated.
