No. $400 off the top. S26 Ultra is $899 already (not $1299). Get a cheap prepaid phone (I have a Galaxy A03s), they'll give me $5 + $700 promo credit = $705. My total will end up being $194 + tax. Pay in full. There's no way I would give up my S25 Ultra in this case. It's worth more selling on the private market.
I did this a month ago and got an S26 the same way. I'll do the S26 Ultra tomorrow on the same line.
I do in-store, though. Sales tax is applied differently (since your trade-in is evaluated and applied right away) as opposed to doing it online and waiting for the promo credit to hit.

No. Pay the cost of the phone at checkout, send in your trade-in and you'll get the FULL value applied to your account. You can call/chat and have that credit applied as a refund to your credit card.
If you're paying in full, there is nothing involving "3 years" at all. It's paid.

Yes! And it's MUCH better. At least in TX and many other states, you make out a lot better because you only pay sales tax on the amount AFTER your trade-in is applied.
If you do it online, you pay the FULL sales tax of the device and the credit is applied later, no sales tax refunded.
I will literally save something like $95 doing it in-store rather than online.

Why am I being charged 49 dollars in sales tax on the ultra that has a subtotal of $186? In Texas, the value of tangible personal property taken by a seller in trade as all or part of the consideration for a sale is excluded from the taxable sales price.
Not sure if correct or not but this is how I think they calculated the tax for me in TX.

$1299.99 - $705 (trade in value) = $594.99 x 8.5% tax (2% local on top of the state) = $49.09.

so it looks like the $400 off is not being taken into account somehow?

I did the trade in last week. The billing department said the $400 was a reversal from the s25U and not from s26U.
oh, can you go to billing and find the order invoice for S25 ultra, check what promotion was attached to S25 ultra.

Can you pay off the 20$ per month line and cancel it in 2 months after it is unlocked? Thanks

Is it worth trading Google Pixel 9 pro xl 128gb + $129 cash for Ultra?

Earlier went to a store to try s26+ to Ultra trade on a new line, and the rep tells me in the beginning they have multiple Ultra in stock, so I asked for black. She gets black, and verifies my account and then tells me there's some inventory issue with that new Ultra and that one cannot be used. Also tells me that's the last ultra they have. Wtf. 🫪.

She insists she'll have it ordered online and I can bring the old s26+ to the store for trade once I get the ultra in mail. I refused. She insists I open a new line either way.

Not sure if this has affected anyone else but their online system seems to be glitching. After payment, my receipts/order status/emails don't show any evidence of the additional $700 trade in promos. Seems to have just disappeared on 2 separate orders.
Called and chatted with customer service and they don't have my trade-ins on record. They created a ticket so we'll see.

it looks like they taxed you on the amount of the device after trade in promo ($1,299 - $705) I'm pretty sure they were only supposed to tax you on the price of the device after trade in and promo discount. considering doing this in NYC too, which store did you do this at? did you sign up for the free mobile deal on the spot?
I did it at the store at 522 5th avenue Brooklyn. Yes I'm guessing that they did that as well That's the only way that the tax makes sense. It's not a huge deal it's like a $30 difference but I managed to get them to give me a $30 credit but that was a lot of phone time and I four different reps so I'm not even sure it's worth it. I did sign up for the free mobile deal I mean it's one year of free service. You can either get a new number or port one in whatever you want.

I added two lines (S26 Ultra for both), both in the same transaction.I have Spectrum Internet as well as two mobile lines already.
I didn't know that we could do more than one and I actually have two lines so I picked up one phone today I just ordered another Moto g5 2025 that hopefully will arrive on the 21st in time to try for a second line. Are there any tips or tricks or you just ask for another line? My line that I got today was free for a year how much will I have to pay each month for the new line because I know they showed me that the plan for the free line was $40 per month but I keep hearing people mention something about a $20 per month plan

Was able to do a walmart motorola phone to Ultra for $236 in Florida. Only real PIA the first store didn't offer appointments so I went down there. Waited 45 minutes for my turn just for them to say they were out of stock. Associate was nice enough to reach out to the next closest store and verify they had it.

Other than the wasted time not bad at all. Wife's phone upgraded successfully. Now I'll just need a deal when the next fold comes out;

So, I just came back from a local Spectrum store, was able to get the S26U without any issues. I traded in a brand new Straight Talk Moto 5G 2025 purchased at Walmart locally for $29.99, the only catch was the so-called "mirror" test. The phone went though all the tests OK until we got to the mirror. It kept failing over and over again, I think the rep must have done it 25 times under different positions, lighting, angles, etc. Somehow finally it got through, no idea why it was so hard to get it done. The phone was literally brand new with zero usage, the rep knew and believed that, but didn't know any way to bypass the test (as some others here said they were able to do).

Final cost was like this:
Device Payment Plan - Paid in Full $1,299.99
$701.00 trade-in credit/promo value for Motorola G 5G 2025 -$701
$400 off -$400
Unlimited $40.00/line/mo Next Bill Cycle
Service Discount -$40.00/Mo Next Bill Cycle
One time activation charge $20.00
Activation Charge Waiver -$20.00
New Order Subtotal* $198.99
California E-Waste Recycling Fee $4.00
State And Local Sales Tax $113.75
Applicable Tax Subtotal $117.75
New Order Subtotal $198.99
Applicable Tax Subtotal $117.75 (thanks to CA and the outrageous taxes here)

Grand Total $316.74
Cost of Moto G 2025 $32.65 (tax included)
Final Cost of the entire deal: $349.39

Still a great deal, maybe slightly less so than some people that are luckier to reside in a lower tax state.

By the way, if anyone here in So Cal needs to know which Spectrum store has the S26U in stock and who to talk to to make sure this deal goes through without any headaches or attitude by Spectrum staff, PM me and I'll send you to the right place. There's still a few days left to get in on this, and the store I went to has plenty in stock right now (I think she said something like 25 of them in two different colors).

Verizon phones are locked and you can not to go home screen unless you active a line with them. Return the phone and buy Total Wireless or Straight talk versions.
Wait I got the same phone, can I do a one month cheapest plan with them and then trade it in? Or is it still a no go because Assurant will factory reset it putting it right back to square one?

Second line could be 'by the gig' plan, which is $20.

I did this deal in TX but I hit some issues:
1-Bought a Verizon Prepaid Moto-G Phone from Family Dollar because it was on sale ($20). Big mistake. Verizon had done something so you cannot pass the "activation" screen. So I had to pay one month cheapest service ($38.xx). So trade-in costed me $58. My own phone (Moto G Stylus 2025) is worth around $150 on ebay, so I guess I should still feel okay.
2-Weirdly the taxes in TX is calculated as if there is no $400 discount. Why?? Are we in California? Taxes is calculated on $590 (1300-710 tradein) instead of $190 (1300-400-710). There is also $20 activation fee. Out the door, I paid $258.XX.
Other than that, everything went smoothly. No one insisted on 36 months payment plan. I asked if unlock possible before 60 days (if I prepay those 60 days) and the guy said no.
Some people here say that they got a cheapest prepaid from Walmart and took it to the Spectrum as-is. I don't know how this worked. The guy did like 10 minutes of testing on the phone. Impossible on an unactivated phone which only shows "Activate Now" screen.
I hope I get a reply lol but I am in the same situation I thought I was home free and got a Verizon Prepaid Samsung A16 5G. People are saying can't get to the Home Screen but are you saying if I buy a one month card then it should pass at Assurant? Because the one month pass gets you to the Home Screen? I'm kind of scared if they factory reset it it will ask for a prepaid plan when they are inspecting it and reject the trade-in.

Also did you activate the phone by using the phone itself? I don't mind paying an extra 38 bucks if so.

Everyone will be doing exactly that! Phone gets unlocked and line is ported out. Porting out is the easiest way to deal less with the support member.

My experience in the store I had the Verizon one I couldn't get past the home screen but I showed the lady that it was literally brand new I just opened it out of the box everything was fine with it and she was able to bypass the test in the system like she didn't even test it I propose she scanned the thing with my other phone and just pretend but she was able to do it without even testing it I guess your miles may vary. I'm going to try to get a second one because I need one I ordered the Verizon phone from Amazon but then I also ordered the straight talk one for Best buy they're both $40 and they both say they're arriving on 4/21 so that way in case one of them arrives to wait hopefully one will come in time to make it to the store.
