Select Home Depots are clearing out this Rigid 18V 12.0 Ah MAX Output EXP Lithium-Ion Battery. Currently priced as low as $125.00. Prices may vary by store. Price is good in store only. Most stores show this battery in stock.

If your store says it's out of stock, then click the "Check Nearby Stores" link and look for the clearance icon. Then change your home store to a store that has them in stock to see the clearance price.

Looking at my two 8 AH ones...and thinking I probably don't need this, but at $125, it's a great price.

I think I may grab one, and just run a 12v step down adapter and use it on my utility trailer as an auxiliary battery. With the LSA, I'd never have to worry about replacing another one. I used a similar 12v adapter with my ATV sprayer pump attached to a powered cart. I was able to spray the entire yard and it only went down one bar (about 40 gallons).

~$10 per amp hour is a fair price (or was a fair price before the economy went upside-down).

Looks like a few stores around me have this on clearance. Tempting, but sometimes these bigger batteries don't fit in the tools. I keep my 9 Ah on my compressor because it doesn't fit the circular saw and other tools well.

You are not doing a specific construction trade, so no you do not need this. Guys who truly need this run their single tool during posted working hours. Every working day. Your 8a is going to make you happy for years to come.

I was just trying to justify similar, but then I remembered that a 50amp lifepo4 battery can be as cheap as $70. Sure, no LSA, but still a couple thousand charging cycles, almost 4x the capacity, and no step down to deal with (in my experience, the stepdowns don't last that long). So while I'd love to have a huge-ass Ridgid battery, common sense prevailed (for tonight, anyway).

I wonder why it's on clearance? Why are they trying to get rid of it?

Probably replacing it with new tech, like tabless or pouch batteries.

Max Output EXP are
Ridgid's tabless 21700 batteries. They do a really crap job explaining the differences between their battery types. I just think the overlap between people willing to buy a 12ah tabless battery at full price and people who buy Ridgid tools is very low so they don't sell well at all.

That would make sense. Maybe they're also re-badging their battery lines like DeWalt just did.
