how does this compare in quality to GE, Whirlpool? Which is the best brand quality wise? I've heard that one should avoid LG and Samsung, is that true

I had the 4 door version of this for two months. It worked fine. My complaint was the constant loud noise it made that didn't seem to bother my family. The freezer was great. The noise killed it for me.

They're to grab onto when you fall on your wet kitchen floor.

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE, THIS MODEL IS A LEMON.

Seriously. Check marketplace around you for kitchen-aid fridges and I'd bet you find a lot of these exact models.

KitchenAid is now owned by Whirlpool Corporation and is their upscale/luxury brand. I'm pretty sure all KitchenAid refrigerators are made in America, whereas some Whirlpool and GE models are made in Mexico.

I just bought a new fridge and the Best Buy employee told me Whirlpool makes KitchenAid refrigerators. I was deciding between the Whirlpool I got and a KitchenAid that upon closer examination was exactly the same except fancier finishes, a woodgrain shelf, and gray interior vs the white of the Whirlpool. The Whirlpool had dual ice makers while the KitchenAid only had the in-door one, so I saved a few hundred and got the Whirlpool.
The KitchenAid ones were more luxury looking, and the next model up had the single drawer under the fridge and the three shelf freezer compartment - which I really liked, but wasn't stepping up to that model. The one in this deal looks like another step up the line with the two drawers (and potentially the two dedicated cooling systems) and at first glance a decent price for it.
