I have enough M18 batteries and chargers for now. Holding out for another $130 deal for the inflator only. My M12 inflator will have to get me by until then.
I have both and unfortunately the M12 one is just weak. It's ok for some smaller jobs, but not near as good for inflating tires (altho it def works)!
I've got this, I personally don't care for it. It works but when filling tires it'll pause, take a measurement of what the psi is at which always reads high after just adding air, then it'll stop thinking it got the desired psi but after sitting for a few seconds the measured psi will be 4 or so psi less than what you set, so then you have to push the button to get it to start up again, then the psi that's read when it starts up is 5psi higher than setpoint so it stops filling again before it's what you set it to. I prefer the m12 that doesn't have this issue, it'll just fill until it hits the setpoint without needing to pause and take measurements along the way. Sure it takes longer, but the stopping before it's what I set it to is annoying.
Anyone ever have this die on them ? $143 for a tire inflator. More reliable than a Viair?
The viair is a good one too, but by the time you pop your hood and get it hooked up to the battery your tire would already be done with the m18 and it automatically stops. I have the viair 88p the m12 and the m18. Bought in that order. If I bought the m18 1st I wouldnt have the other 2. Im using them to fill the tires on my FJ after a beach day from 18 to 44psi. The m18 is about 5x faster than the m12. The viair is faster than both milwaukees but you have to do the extra work and turn it off when it gets to your desired psi.

Have this exact same issue with another of the "drill style" inflators. It was $20 so hard to complain...

I have one and it's REALLY good. Before I was using my PowerTank (co2) that's in the Jeep, but that's been reserved for off-road only or in an emergency on the road. Awesome unit.
If I understood your response correctly, the M12 is OK, but the M18 is more powerful? If so, that's good to know.
Correct. The M12 takes FAR longer to fill my tires than the M18 version. The M12 works, but the M18 works better! This also means the M12 will die faster than the M18, which is more efficient (and likely has a larger compressor motor inside it).

So expensive. How is this that much better than the other 100-150psi pumps?
It is better, but is it that much better? I'd say no. I would buy this if price were no object but I ended up buying the smaller, slower, noisier Ridgid one. Works well enough for topping off tires.
If I were doing more offroading and needed something to fill a tire from 0 psi after ripping a tire open on some rocks, I'd absolutely buy this Milwaukee, even if strapped for cash.
