Amazon review:
" This router came from a third party vendor. What I didn't know was these outdated products could be purchased cheaply and resold on various platforms. I'm sure it probably works with simple systems but I was having problems getting it to connect. I called Linksys Support for help and was informed that they no longer sold or supported this router as it was over three years old. I would just suggest caution and do some research before buying inexpensive routers as cheaper isn't usually better."

Its no longer supported.

I got the Linksys AX5400, but the range is actually worse than my old one. I get no signal in the basement where my old one do.

I'm making fun of the other poster recommending a $300 router

Looks like this has OpenWRT support, but you need a TTL adapter to install?

Yep, you'll need a USB-TTL adapter. You'll have to open it and connect other end of the serial cable to the UART on the board, as described below. AFAIK there is no OTA for the initial flashing.
Quote :
New Installations must be done over UART/TFTP procedure.
UART 115200 baud 8N1, 5 pin UART header on board pinout (viewed with ethernet ports facing you): GROUND-X-TXD-RXD-X (X=not used)

I have my mx4300s still and are working fine. Was looking to pick up a few more but have become much harder to find. @ $15 each, they were a steal, esp with OpenWRT. Wish they would bring them back.

Had these linksys units been tri-band, I would have gotten some.
Those are AX4200, with much better hardware specs than the one posted here, right? Smilie

Nothing. You only get these routers if you are willing to flash OpenWRT, DD-WRT, or Fresh Tomato onto them, which will keep them up to date for years to come.

Can you even put Freshtomato on this router? it isn't in the hardware compatibility matrix.

No, Not tomato FW compatible since it uses a Mediatek chipset.

No. I was generalizing. These types of cheap routers are prime candidates for aftermarket firmwares. I didn't mean it's compatible with all of them.

Any reviews? The AC1200 at same price has external Antennas. But this has faster CPU, gigabit ports, more flash/ram and AX support. https://openwrt.org/toh/linksys/e7350
Thanks for Link. Comparing it to AX1800 has faster cpu, +RAM and 5 giga ports. See it for yourself.
