Very confused - there are so many varying Linksys mesh routers that correspond to AC2200 as advertised on woot. I think there's a mistake somewhere; which mesh routers do the package come with? Is it the AX2200? MX20WH2? WH0302? Please help!

Based on a cross reference with other sites it's WHW0302-RM2

Doesn't like it's LN1301. That was on sale a sometime ago.

Looks like WHW03 (+02 just means 2-pack), both V1 and V2, can do openwrt with some (major) tinkering. Sounds like a great project I'll get to in 2028! In for 1! Big Grin

This is WiFi 5. LN1301 was WiFi 6. Is it better to wait for another LN1301 deal?

So one good thing is they all work or compatible. However, I couldn't figure out if I got a newer mesh system and kept my old one, does it become a bottle neck? I couldn't find out.

I wouldn't get wifi 5. Lowest I'd go today is 6E.

Ultimately, I have 4 nodes of the wifi 5 & 6 mixed together, all running OpenWRT. The firmware change to OpenWRT is a SIGNIFICANT upgrade over the Linksys software - in that it can do advanced routing, unlimited clients on both main & secondary (i.e. guest) networks, VPN at the router level, VPN into your network, etc. There are far too many features to share.
That said, I bought this pair for my son who will be in a different physical location. After flashing to OpenWRT, he'll be able to VPN permanently into my home network and we'll be able to share files / streaming services / etc.
