The TCL QM6K stands out as a bright, budget friendly 4K mini LED TV with strong picture quality, quick response, and surprisingly decent built in sound. The 65 inch model gets praise for vivid colors, deep blacks, low glare in sunny rooms, and solid gaming performance, while the Costco QM6K Pro adds better reflection handling and a five year warranty. The main drawback is motion processing, which can show judder, blur, and trailing artifacts, especially in pans or against dark backgrounds. Firmware updates help some issues, but motion sensitive viewers may still find it frustrating. A strong value pick if motion handling is not your top priority.

Common Questions (5)

  • Costco pricing is around $450-$500 for the 65-inch, and the purchase includes a 5-year warranty that would cost extra at Best Buy. Costco also has the 98-inch at $1,500 shipped and installed with a 5-year warranty, while the store price can be lower but without installation.

  • Yes. The Costco QM6K Pro uses the QM7K/QM8K-style CrystGlow panel, which is reported to handle reflections and glare significantly better than the regular QM6K/QM5K panel. The regular QM6K can be much worse in bright rooms, while the Pro is still best suited to darker setups.

  • A manual firmware update can improve problems like motion handling and flickering, but it may not fully eliminate judder for motion-sensitive viewers. The TV is still described as strong on brightness, colors, blacks, and blooming after updating.

  • If smooth motion is a priority, the QM6K can be a poor fit because it has been described as having bad judder, blur, and trailing artifacts, especially with people moving against dark backgrounds. For viewers who are not sensitive to motion, it is still considered a strong value.

  • The 65-inch is described as impressive for the money, with bright picture quality, deep colors and blacks, minimal blooming, and decent built-in speakers. It also reportedly handles glare well in a sunny living room, though many owners still use a soundbar.

It was $450 at costco, but I bought it at the same time as another item that qualified for the costco direct $100 off two items. I updated to V321. I would be doubtful that another update would solve this judder issue completely, though. The processor is likely part of what makes this TV as cheap as it is and thus it will be limited by its hardware. It's impressive that it performs as well as it does.
$450 at Costco, there's no way you're talking about this same TV. Look at the price history.
Sounds like more of a you problem.

You're missing the context of my previous comments which is that I had the 55. And if you would have read my previous comments you will see that I said plenty of people will love this set and that I am sensitive to poor motion handling. This is a great TV, just not for me. Sorry to blow up your "gotcha". "

I'm curious to know if there is a 55" model and if so, how much is that going for on sale?
It's currently around $450. If you're a Costco member a 5-year warranty is included in the price, which costs an additional $160 at Best Buy.

I have the Pro and the reflection handling is truly awful. I regret buying it. Any lightsource in front of the tv in dark scenes not only shows but has rainbow refraction bands going all across the screen. It'd be a great tv for a dark home theater room but Id stay away for any other use case.
If you thought the reflection handling on the Pro was bad, you'd be appalled by how bad it is on the non-Pro. The Pro has the QM7K/QM8K's CrystGlow panel, which is significantly better at handling reflections than the panel in the regular QM6K and the QM5K.

No problem. Costco says the price is $450 until 4/30 if that matters. I hope it drops even more as we get closer to summer...

By the time Black Friday comes around the corner, I'm expecting it to drop to maybe $400 which is when I do plan to buy it b/c I've noticed this trend which tends to lean more towards TCL TV sets where retailers will continually keep them in circulation/inventory up to 2 years after they've been released and then eventually slash their price in an effort to remove them from inventory. Case in point, that's how I was able to snag my current TCL 55" 55R646 TV for $400 during BF back in 2023 which I've been using as my daily driver since.

and why I'm watching the new quantum dots. TCL's new 2026 flagship TVs, including the X11L, QM8L, and QM7L, feature groundbreaking "Super Quantum Dot" (SQD) Mini-LED technology. These panels achieve 100% BT.2020 color coverage for enhanced, vibrant picture quality with up to 6,000+ nits brightness and 4,000+ local dimming zones

That might be what I end up doing too. It depends on whether or not I need it sooner. I'm still using a 1080p Samsung LCD that I bought way back on the 4th of July in 2009. No dead pixels and it still looks great for what it is but I'm paranoid it'll suddenly go out on me.

Damn, oh my, you better than me. I didn't start using 1080p till 2014 and prior to that, I had been using 720p TVs as computer monitors. I had one TV that I owned at the time that I used as a monitor via VGA which was a 45" and it maxed out at 1080p, but the VGA port went out in 2017 so I sold it and when TCL started releasing their entry level 55" 4K/60Hz TVs w/ VA panels at the time, I went ahead and bought one which had been my daily driver till 2022 where I upgraded to an 55" LG 55NANO90UPA store display unit since I was desperate for an affordable option w/ 120Hz refresh rate, but I regret buying it for $520 since I only used it for 1 year due it exhibiting a terrible halo effect before switching over to my current TCL 55R646. Yeah, I think if history serves me right, this 55" QM6K model will eventually get discounted to $400 and no less (unless it's a display unit, lol) since the timing just seems so right.

I have two cousins and between them & their husband & wife they have six kids total -- and my TV is older than five of them!

One other this -- the Costco one is the QM6K Pro, the only difference being the panel has the same coating on the QM7K & QM8K panels (Crystglow or something) and it's supposed to be better for glare reduction and maybe contrast, too. Same hardware as far as I know, but some people online seem to think there are four 2.1 HDMI ports instead of two.

My current TV's been doubling as a computer monitor all this time too, so we're in the same boat. I've also been accumulating 4k blu-rays even though I can't watch them at 4k. I only recently got a 4k player from Best Buy which is really just an external LG blu-ray drive that could be flashed to handle 4k discs. It's $92 on sale, $115 regularly, and last I checked it was actually available for purchase which surprised me because it looked like they all sold out soon after my purchase. Those types of drives are apparently going away unfortunately.

Interesting how far back in time your TV goes. Back in 2009, I was still living w/ my parents after graduating from college a year prior, lol. However, I started building PCs by then and I would always include a Blu-Ray disc drive in every single PC I built for personal use and I still do to this day. I had documented the components I used for my most recent PC build in a video I uploaded on my YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/aKGHXDqWUVs
