I found this online. Another website I read said that the lower number (1 in this case) is less cosmetic damage. Who knows honestly.

Yeah . Now everyone in your neighborhood can offer their live footage to help triangulate your "lost dog"

The 1 model uses cloud-based facial recognition to report your neighbors to ICE, whereas the 2 model uses cloud-based facial recognition to report your neighbors to ICE.

Following that logic then throw away your phone too then. Your tablets. Let's be real it's all compromised.

I highly recommend against purchasing a ring doorbell camera (and most wireless home security cameras in general, but ring especially).

First, they are completely useless against any but the most utterly incompetent criminals, since they're vulnerable to basic de-auth attacks. Any moron with a $25 deauth gadget can completely block the ring cameras connection to your network from over 50ft away; making your ring doorbell nothing but a paperweight long before they're visible to the camera. No technical knowledge or skill is required, it's literally as simple as spending a few dollars.
More advanced wifi cameras prevent deauth, but those are still vulnerable to jamming (though true jamming is more expensive, more noticeable, and gets you in a LOT more trouble once you get caught).

Next, ring has atrocious privacy practices, sharing footage without your consent and adding it to databases. They were also looking to partner up with flock (directly funded by Peter Thiel, the guy obsessed with making a surveillance state and the antichrist, seriously, look this guy up) before the backlash got too severe. By purchasing a ring camera you are essentially making your home part of a private corporations surveillance network, with barely any control over the footage produced.

This isn't even getting into the fact that most functionality of ring cameras requires a subscription, so while the upfront hardware cost is low, the cost of ownership is actually quite high.

Here's a couple of videos going over how atrocious ring is, if you want a deep dive:
Gamers nexus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSTe8Pi9J_8
Benn Jordan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMIwNiwQewQ

In conclusion, don't purchase any ring products. Not only are they functionally useless against even a basic porch pirate with two brain cells to rub together, they're a privacy nightmare, and cost more in the long run than properly setting up a home security system yourself.

I am moving into a three story townhouse so I would rather not rush all the way down stairs for a door to door salesman. Any video or even voice only devices recommendations?

The 2 is twice as likely to leak your privacy and data!

I looked this up once on another listing and I don't how true this is but it said that the 1 vs 2 is because of some limitations in thier inventory system and they have to list the same product more than once to account for it but they should be the same condition device. Again I don't know if this is true but it made sense to me at that time.
